I’ve had a great experience meeting with Elizabeth weekly. She listens carefully, asks important questions and is able to provide me with tools and resources to work through things. She has never rushed me through our sessions and has even gone overtime with me. She has shown me that she truly cares. I fully trust in her skills and expertise and feel hopeful when I meet with her. I would 100% recommend her as a therapist!

My name is Jo and I appreciate you taking a look at my profile to consider if I might be a good match for what you need.

MY EXPERIENCE: I am an independently licensed counselor (LPCC) with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. My career journey has placed me within:

Intensive Psychiatric Hospital settings, Correctional settings, Substance Treatment Centers, and Community Counseling Centers.

WHAT I’VE LEARNED: The common factor that everyone I have ever supported through my counseling services seems to have is that they just want to feel better now.

They also want to have the tools, insight, and motivation to keep feeling better and to keep making the choices that will help them to feel stable, safe, happy, content and engaged in life in a way that works for them.

MY APPROACH: I believe that every individual is doing the best they can in the moment in their lives. Sometimes help and support is needed to manage the stressors that life throws our way. My approach is very person-centered. When I meet with you, it's a conversation. You know yourself. My job is to understand you: your needs, wants, desires, obstacles, strengths and growing edges, dreams, fears, challenges. How we work together depends on your needs and who you are as an individual.

• Trauma/Grief

• Depression

• Anxiety

• Substance Use

• Life Transitions

• Existential Crisis

WAYS WE CAN WORK TOGETHER: Some of the modalities I am able to use include:

• CBT

• DBT

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Jo is the best therapist I’ve ever had, and there have been a lot. She manages the practical with the theoretical, lends actionable advice and isn’t afraid to call out issues when they’re apparent, in a kind but direct manner. The progress I have made in my time with her has been substantial and quicker than I could’ve imagined, as we rehash the parts where I may not be doing the best and don’t rehash things that remain unimportant. Therapy for me has usually been a slow drag towards mediocrity, but here I feel like I’m making meaningful steps and being shown a path towards a substantially improved way of thinking and way of life that I would not have seen had it not been for her. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.

I feel that being in and out of therapy. I finally found the exact therapist I needed in Elizabeth Chavez. Remember this is a journey and it’s okay to try several therapists before you find what your looking for. But she’s it for me!!

In just a few sessions, Elizabeth has zeroed in on my most pressing concerns and made me feel like I can do this; I can adjust my thought patterns and heal. She inspires confidence and I feel that my journey to good mental health is safe with her.

Jo is an amazing person that has made me feel very comfortable to speak with and be open about what im feeling

Reviewed November 2021

Jo [Elizabeth Chavez] is respectful of my concerns and does not trivialize or downplay the significance of them in any way. She listens thoughtfully and offers useful actions toward realizing my goals and bringing more awareness to my self defeating patterns. I have spent a lot of time in therapy and I have to say that Jo established rapport immediately and I felt like she really got me right away. Like most people [I think], I didn't really have a lot of hope for myself in traditional therapy but Jo does give me some hope for my future and the relief of some healing from childhood PTSD and relational trauma.

I've been to a lot of therapists over the years with mixed or limited results. I can see already that Elizabeth is no-nonsense and results driven, wanting to see changes and helping me find reasons and motivation and practices that will actually improve my life instead of just talking about my feelings ad nauseam. She's easy to get along with but not afraid to be blunt as needed, and walks that line in a very balanced manner. I am thoroughly impressed and honestly kinda shocked that I was able to find someone so skillful and helpful and for that I am extremely grateful.

I'm so happy I reached out to Better help and recommended to Elizabeth Chavez when I did. She's been so encouraging and kind when we have our session. I'm very happy with my experience this far.
