Although I have only met with Adam a few months weekly, I really feel hopeful in the directions were going and I feel very understood and supported. He is my third therapist through BH, third times a charm. I would highly recommend him. I can say that honestly, especially if you are Neuro spicy, he gets it, so helpful. I appreciate being able to work with someone who understands the way my brain works after wasting so many decades. It makes such a positive difference: Helpful, efficient, productive, positive, less stressful.

I wish I could have found Adam years ago, but I’m so grateful he is in my life now. Truly, a life saver and an inspiring, insightful, and wonderful person to have in my corner. I find myself really looking forward to our meetings every week because Adam is really my rock - the place where I can say what I need to, feel what I need to without judgement or prejudice; just total acceptance and respect. I couldn’t thank Adam enough for allowing me to view certain hardships another way and giving me the tools to combat them. But I’m thankful I can tell someone who is seeking an extremely kind, real, thought provoking, and honest therapist (with an incredible nerd knowledge) - Adam might just change your life. As he did mine.

Hello! My name is Adam Hewitt, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Missouri. I have been with BetterHelp since 2021 after spending several years in private practice as a mental health therapist and substance abuse counselor. I've always been passionate about helping people overcome their challenges. When it comes to therapy, I like to keep things friendly and honest. I will never talk down to you or make you feel like a burden. I find it incredibly rewarding to see the joy on people's faces when they realize just how strong they can be, whether it's facing their fears, overcoming addictions, or taking control of their lives.

As for my therapeutic approach, I focus on your strengths. I believe that everyone has innate abilities that can help them achieve their life goals, and it is my job to help you find yours. I take a mindfulness based approach, and am very sensitive to how technology and culture intersect to make our lives more complicated. I've worked significantly with people dealing with trauma, substance and gaming addiction, and systemic oppression. My aim is to help individuals become empowered to go out into the world feeling in charge of their lives.

I don't consider myself to work for an agency; I'm here because of you. My promise is to let you take the lead to make the changes in your life that are meaningful to you. My hope is that my openness and positive attitude will make you feel trusted and inspired to live the life you deserve.

This guy knows what’s up. I’ve gone through many therapists and Adam is the only one that’s truly been able to help. Therapy takes on a whole new meaning for me now, and I owe it to Adam for being so genuine in his practice. I don’t feel like I’m talking to a psychology textbook, but a real person willing to explore all options that work best for an individual. He’s funny and will be really honest, in a nice way of course, and overall just a cool therapist. I can’t recommend him enough.

My first time ever having therapy was with Adam. He has been extremely helpful, understanding and professional. His attention to detail and unique ability of combining bits of information to create the full picture makes him a pleasure to talk to. Adam helps in identifying aspects and guiding me to solutions that help cope with my stress, anxiety and trauma. He is both professional and compassionate. I’m making better choices, facing difficulties with a more level-head, and I genuinely look forward to my sessions because I come away from it with something even if I felt like I talked about nothing. Adam has treated me with respect and dignity throughout, even when talking about my somewhat sordid past. He is very attentive and helpful with understanding my own emotions and behaviors which makes me more attentive and understanding of others. I greatly value the opportunity to work with Adam and would recommend him to anyone.

Adam is the best therapist I've ever had, and I've had a few. He listens, engages the topic at hand (and me) in a way that feels relaxed but very attentive to detail. The thing I love the most about working with Adam is that it doesn't make therapy feel like work, like a burden I have to carry. The conversation flows, I feel free to direct it into the territory I want to cover, but I also know that Adam will offer challenges to my way established way of thinking (in a good way!) and advice on ways to reframe my thinking when I am getting myself stuck in a rut - even within a session. Adam's been very helpful in only a few weeks. Very appreciative of his professionalism and caring, engaging approach.
