More about Montgomery

  • 8 years' experience

I provide individual, couples, and family counseling to adults and adolescents. Working from a cognitive-behavioral, client-centered, and interpersonal approach, the goal of his work is to assist individuals identify and change maladaptive life patterns (thoughts and/or behaviors), and develop a more balanced approach to oneself, others, and their surroundings. With these approaches, I assist in developing more satisfying relationships to improve one’s ability to better manage stress. I am a military veteran with more than 28 years of military services, who connects very well with the veteran community for he truly understands the military culture.

I am a Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider, South Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor, and a PREPARE/ENRICH assessment facilitator for premarital and marital couples. I work with people experiencing anxiety, and/or depression, and employ mindfulness techniques to provide effective individualized treatment.

I am a Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN) trained Therapist, and can help you target mental, behavioral and emotional symptoms like depression, anxiety, or relationship problems. The effects of CEN on a child are not limited to walling off his/her feelings which negatively impact ability to adapt and cope, becoming devoid of rich resources in adulthood.

I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Dr. Prescod is absolutely amazing at what he does. I hoped to gain someone that could help me navigate my issues with the psychological methods and practices learned through their years of education and practice. I also desired a counselor s that understood the cultural significance of my issues. He is a consummate professional, checks in at least once weekly and replies to my messages immediately! He reminds me often that he is here to help me navigate. When he responds to my issues, he not only assures me that he is there, but he also provides practices, skills for me to work through my issues. Dr. Prescod is the BEST there is!

Reviewed November 2022

You can tell Dr. Prescod really cares. He checked in with me between sessions when he knew I might be triggered by current events. He is open-minded and eager to learn about AND from you. He challenged me without pushing too far. Dr. Prescod helped me understand how traumatic experiences of all kinds can affect a person, how certain events might more intensely affect me because of who and I am what I’ve been through, and taught me coping mechanisms to deal with those effects.
