Hello,

My name is Tyler Gates. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon. I have been serving in the mental health and addictions fields since 2009, and have been in a range of settings including private clinics, the Oregon State Hospital, and the Oregon Department of Corrections. I have extensive experience working with a variety of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, grief, transitions, personality disorders and severe and persistent mental illnesses. I counsel a variety of age ranges, ranging from young childhood all the way into late life transitions and am passionate about helping each client find the growth and recovery they are searching for.

My approach to therapy uses integrated techniques with a strong background in psychodynamic principles. I believe that people are the experts in their own lives, and that those lives are shaped by their relationships not only to the people around them, but their life experiences as well. I pull on tools from a variety of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Brief Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. By integrating a variety of tools into the therapy room, we are able to explore multiple solutions to empower you to find what works best.

By reading these profiles, you have shown tremendous courage and taken your first step down the path to growth and happiness. If you are ready to continue that journey, I am here to support and empower you.

Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to working with you.
