More about Christien

  • 12 years' experience

Hello! My name is Christien Harden, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (NC and VA), Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (NC) and Certified Clinical Supervisor (NC). While attending graduate school at East Carolina University, my focus and study was the LGBT community and co-occurring disorders. It is my wish to assist those struggling with mental health and substance use issues by providing an experienced, caring atmosphere to grow and heal. Overall, I want to talk about the matters that matter to you.

Life isn't always easy but, it should not always be a struggle. I offer a wide range of therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy as well as Motivational Interviewing to assist individuals throughout the therapeutic process. I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve wholeness and wellness at your own pace.

During my career I have worked in hospital-based settings serving as a triage specialist in the ED of a major hospital system, floor therapist for those afflicted with severe and persistent mental illness, and served as a Director of Outpatient Services for intensive outpatient care and a partial hospitalization program. At present, I oversee therapists working with those afflicted with severe and persistent mental illness in an inpatient setting.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my partner, our families, and our dogs. Generally, you will find me (when not working) on the beaches of NC and FL, or the mountains of Colorado.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
