I’ve been seeing Amanda for the past few months and without her I know I wouldn’t be where I am today. I can see the growth in myself and Amanda has been there for me every step of the way. She listens, she validates, she holds me accountable, but she never judges. I am extremely grateful to have her as a listening ear and a helpful hand. I still have work to do but with her I know I can do it.

Amanda is the most genuine therapist I’ve had and she’s my 5th one I’ve seen. She cares and supports me by listening and validating me where it’s needed. She asks the tough questions and guides me through my struggles that I haven’t been able to touch before. She helps me see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Hello Friend,

You have taken a courageous first step toward wellness. Thank you for reaching out!

From this moment on, you are not alone.

Please note: I provide therapy via live chat, phone, and video/tele. I check my messages on the platform and respond within 24 hours.

When first asked what population I most enjoyed working with, my response was, "EVERY population"! I have lived in many places and worked with a diverse group of individuals since 2002. Each person has enriched my life and broadened my view of the human experience.

I practice EMDR, as it is an evidence-based treatment that I've witnessed helping many trauma survivors.

Life has its challenges and how have we coped with it all? Since infancy, we ask for help in one way or another. I wager to say that seeking a human connection is innate. That is the essence of therapy. I firmly believe we all need each other. We are all in this together.

Therapy is rooted in having a comfortable, positive relationship. You and I will be partners. I promise to be that warm person who listens and never judges you. Our sessions are a safe place, always!

Some personal things...

I grew up in mid-Michigan, from birth to age 20. I lived in San Francisco during my early twenties. I spent many years in Phoenix and also on the Gulf side of Florida (Seminole). Now I am in the Old West, Wyoming!! II have lived here for over 10 years. I love being in touch with nature and have loved every place I have lived. I am newly remarried and have two amazingly perfect children, both diagnosed with autism; ages 14 and 15. Part our of family is an 80-pound rescue dog named Grizzy Bear, an English Mastiff called Zeus, and an elderly cat from the shelter named Barry Catalow. ❤

Now for more education and experience-based information...

I am a University of Michigan graduate; Psychology 1999. I earned my Masters in Clinical Social Work degree from the University of South Dakota; 2018.

I have provided counseling services since 2002. My experience started with working in a residential program for females, ages 10-65, who suffered from eating disorders. From there, I moved on to provide crisis services and suicide prevention for 7 years. I have designed behavior plans for children and teens with troublesome behaviors and worked hands on with the families and group home staff. I provided crisis services to those whom were sexually assaulted or victims of other violent crimes. I have facilitated group therapy, individual therapy, couples therapy, and done cognitive testing. I have worked with toddlers, the elderly, and all ages in between. I worked with active duty military individuals and Veterans for 9 years. Thank you for your service, brave ones.

I have over 3 years of experience working in an acute psychiatric hospital. I am experienced in working with individuals with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, PTSD, and psychotic/delusional disorders. Though, I think diagnosis can be important, and even life-saving, in my role, I am more concerned about treating your symptoms and overall happiness than diagnosis.

My style is adapting to what my client needs. Among my styles are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, DBT principles, and good old-fashioned compassionate listening.

Other things to know:

Please please please give me 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. I tend to keep a very busy schedule and I can use the hour to slide someone else in if I have some notice. Thank you!!!

Let's get you feeling better!! I look forward to being a part of your journey!

Best therapist I’ve ever had by far

Reviewed May 2022

Amanda has been incredible, she leads with kindness in her sessions and helps to overcome any challenge that life throws at you. When I first joined Better Help my first few sessions I was so stressed and emotionally fragile that I cried for most of the time. Amanda was incredibly caring and within a couple of sessions I began to feel like myself again. As the year progressed and I faced more difficult situations, Amanda was always on hand to guide me through the challenges and help me develop the tools I needed so life could become more manageable again. She has helped me rediscover myself and see that life can be wonderful. I really won the jackpot with Amanda as my therapist and would recommend her in a heartbeat to anyone considering therapy! She helps make the world a less overwhelming space and allowed me to see life as more joyful experience. I will forever be thankful to Amanda, for her kindness, patience and talent. She's helped me to understand myself and others in a way that I never thought was possible, and allowed me to overcome trauma that I had been holding on to for years. She is wonderful!

Reviewed May 2022

Amanda is a deeply compassionate, angelically kind, overwhelmingly patient, unbelievably understanding, and wonderfully optimistic person. Her manner is utterly professional, and she has a wealth of knowledge spanning a remarkably wide berth, and always seems to be learning something new for the benefit of her clients. She is polite, and friendly, and can see the good in a person even through layer after layer of their own darkness. Her ability to bring people into the light, to show them the beauty they don't see, and to introduce them to the love they don't recognise is second to none. Amanda is, frankly, a gift to this world, and society would benefit hugely from more people like her.

Amanda is incredible. When I signed up for therapy I was so lost, lonely and low. My head had gone into a very dark space and I was feeling so helpless, with no sign of light. From the very first session she was incredibly kind and I felt at ease with her. I'm now a few months in, during which time she has given me the tools and confidence to feel connected to myself and others again. She is always on hand to support, have a listening ear and gives beautiful and relevant guidance. A true beam of sunshine! I can never thank Amanda enough for all that she has done, she's wonderful.
