Hi, My name is Sean O'Hara. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York and Maine with over 5 years of experience working in the Mental Health field. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, grief and loss, life transitions, and family/relationship issues. I graduated from Fordham University in 2017 with an MSW, and have worked in a variety of clinical settings including inpatient and outpatient mental health facilities.
I am a solution-focused therapist with a person-centered approach. I strongly believe in the resiliency of the human spirit and identifying those things which motivate you as an individual. There is no judgment in my therapeutic process. My purpose for you is to create a therapeutic atmosphere that will meet you where you are at while exploring where you want to be. While I have specialty training in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), CT-R (Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy), Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing, my approach is always tailored to your needs in a way we both see fit to meet your goals.
Taking that first step to seek therapy can certainly be a challenge in and of itself, but if you are willing to take that step then I am committed to supporting and empowering you toward the life you are meant to lead. I look forward to working together.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Sean is not only a great therapist, he’s a great person. I was very new to therapy and he made it very comfortable and easy to get into. He helped me get through one of the darkest times of my life and I’m forever grateful.
Great!
I’m very thankful for better help and my therapist. I appreciate the opportunity to do this work. I feel as though I am improving and moving through life much easier knowing that I can be honest and vulnerable about my experiences. My therapist is very kind and I feel comfortable to be my authentic self and do the work I want/need to accomplish. It’s not easy, it’s very hard. I feel very fortunate to have access to both the platform and my therapist. He is REALLY GOOD! 10/10 would recommend.
I have been seeing Sean for a little over 6 months, and in that time I have made some sizeable decisions that have changed my life for the better. Sean is a very attentive listener and was really helpful in establishing a baseline for the kind of therapy I needed. Rather than pushing conclusions on my personal challenges, he asks thought provoking questions which lead me to come to uncover feelings and thoughts I didn't even know were there. Sean provides a welcoming environment where I feel comfortable sharing personal stories and feelings. I would definitely recommend Sean as a therapist, especially someone coping with life changes.
Sean has helped me grow out of a no confidence, no boundaries, and on edge life to a thriving, boundary full, and fully confident life. My life has changed significantly since starting my journey with Sean’s help.
Sean is the best! I'm so grateful to have been matched with him. He is extremely insightful and has a wonderful, caring, engaged energy. He is helping me so much.
Fantastic experience so far, highly recommend Sean, he is extremely knowledgeable and provides the tools to use in every day life.
Sean was as advertised and exactly what I needed. His clinical approaches list CBT, mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, etc. I found him to be a good listener, curious and supportive, but also helpful in discerning what would be practical in terms of next steps. I needed to talk about why I'm stuck on many dimensions and what to do about it, and I as a result of our time together I feel clear about what to do about it and what parameters to put around the as-yet unresolved aspects of why, which is exactly where I think I need to be.
Sean is a very kind, empathetic, professional therapist. I feel safe and comfortable during our sessions and feel that he is committed to helping me reach my mental health goals.
Sean allows you to speak your mind and together find what you are trying to say. He is great at validating and then telling you how it is. He understands that everyone is different and is willing to do what it takes to help you anyway he can.
Sean is observant, patient, personable, and focused. He is helpful for keeping time goal-oriented, and is not afraid to offer challenging reflections. He has specific expertise in Roman Catholic spirituality, and social justice work that is very helpful for my needs.
Sean is an experienced professional but also a genuine, caring person who is easy to talk to. His virtual “office” truly feels like a safe space where I can be myself. As someone who tends to cry when discussing emotional things, I appreciate his warmth and patience during a process that is often difficult or confusing. He is great at steering our conversations to be productive and therapeutic, even when I have no idea what to say. He also does a great job of wrapping up sessions in a way that is unrushed and makes me feel motivated and hopeful for the week ahead. He encourages me to reflect on important takeaways from our talk and gives me something to focus on between sessions- sometimes a relevant worksheet as homework. Over the past 3 months, Sean has given me tools & valuable insight to make small adjustments to how I think and act, which has led to meaningful improvements in how I feel. I’m very grateful to have been matched with such a skilled and compassionate therapist and look forward to continuing making progress with his guidance.
Sean has been very professional and incredibly easy to work with.
I am 57 years old, and this was my first experience with any type of therapy. A number of life events had happened, and I recognized that my train had gone off its tracks. For a number of reasons, I needed to do online therapy, and I couldn't have been matched to a better therapist. It has been a very productive eight weeks, and with Sean's help, wisdom, and expertise, I am back to my original positive self and perhaps even better and stronger. Sean truly knew how to work with me to move me through the steps that I needed to follow, though it never seemed like he was pushing me. Instead, it always seemed like he was walking alongside me. We had a chance today, in my last session, to talk about the whole process, and I realized that the dark, foreign place where I was during the first couple of weeks is now way behind me and even seems strange to me. In the end, Sean's expertise and compassion helped me to help myself, and I am very grateful. I should also express my gratitude to Better Help for their algorithm or method that got me matched with Sean. THIS WHOLE EXPERIENCE WORKED!
Sean is a great Therapist. He is a great listener and offers great perspective and challenges me to think of ways to reach my goals.
Sean has been very helpful. He listens to understand my situation and challenges me to challenge my negative feelings. He has been extremely helpful.
I've only had a few sessions with Sean so far, but he's helped me with some things that meant a lot to me work on. He has been wonderful through chat and phone, and has asked very excellent questions about what was going on. He's been very helpful and easy to talk to, and I hope it continues to be that way
I greatly appreciate how quickly Sean was able to identify my priorities, help me recognize past trauma and begin the healing process. He provided additional educational resources when appropriate and made me feel heard and respected. So glad I gave this program a chance!
Sean has been a wonderful help. I appreciate our sessions and always look forward to our next session.
Sean is insightful, considerate, and approaches the conversations in a constructive and positive way. I am so happy I decided to work with him. One of the things he has helped me with is framing my confusing/convoluted thoughts into a clear picture and then developing goals from that more clear picture.
