Welcome! My name is Emily. I am a mother, partner, friend, daughter, and all-around real-life person just like you.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Louisiana with a masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Since becoming licensed in 2006, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families. I have worked with children, teens, adults, and geriatric clients. I am a person-centered therapist that adapts my style to the client and the situation. My counseling style is warm, friendly, and casual. I see the counseling process as one in which you and I work to develop trust and respect for one another in order to work as a team in identifying and interrupting cycles of problematic behaviors, develop adaptive life goals, and implement strategies to help you achieve those goals.
There are a lot of "right" ways to do therapy. I have utilized and studied several counseling theories and techniques over the years. My style could be described as eclectic since I use techniques from many different theories in my practice. Some of the therapeutic approaches I tend to utilize in therapy include: Cognitive-behavioral therapy, Dialectical behavior therapy, Narrative therapy, Strategic therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, systems theory, Mental Research Institute theory, Structural therapy, Mindfulness, and Solution-focused therapy.
I work with BetterHelp full-time and hold sessions on weekdays. My typical hours are as follows:
Monday: 8am - 6pm
Tuesday: 8am - 3pm
Wednesday: 8am - 3pm
Thursday: 8am - 6pm
Friday: 8am - 6pm
I look forward to meeting you and getting started on the therapeutic journey!

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Emily is awesome
Emily has been a great blessing in my journey to continued healing
Emily goes above and beyond by making herself available. I have had some urgent matters that she has been quick to respond to and allow much flexibility in working with me.
Emily has been absolutely wonderful. I got so lucky to have been matched with her as my therapist.
"Working with Emily has been an incredibly therapeutic experience for me. I truly appreciate her nonjudgmental attitude because it does create a safe space where I felt heard and supported. I truly appreciate her expertise, empathy, and dedication to helping me achieve my therapeutic goals. I highly recommend Emily to anyone seeking professional guidance and support on their journey towards healing and personal growth."
Emily is kind, understanding, respectful and thorough. She listens when necessary and offers counsel and guidance when it is time for that. I would highly recommend her, and I have experienced a variety of therapists over the years. Thank you Emily!
Emily is very understanding and asks really good questions to get me thinking!
Emily is very attentive to my needs. She is a great listener and I look forward to each session that we have together.
Mrs. Emily is great she helped me a lot in the time we have been working together and is a great person to talk to
Emily has been amazingly understanding and helpful, talking to her is very validating
She has been so great in creating a positive judgement free zone. I greatly appreciate her advice and support through this apps sessions and messaging systems.
Emily is THE BOMB!! She listens and I truly feel seen and heard. I was a little nervous that I wouldn’t have a good first match but honestly, I couldn’t have found a better therapist for myself!
She is one of the best therapists I’ve ever had to this date!
Emily is amazing!
She treats me like what I say and feel matters. I feel seen and heard no matter if my problems are trivial or monumental.
Emily is my favorite counselor, and person in general, I’ve ever had. I have never felt so heard in all my life. Listens, is supportive, critical thinker, very compassionate. She is truly the best out there. I would recommend her above and beyond to anyone and everyone considering therapy.
Emily Bailey is a stellar person that somehow manages to stay engaged in my bullcrap.
Emily makes me feel seen and heard. She is wonderful! A perfect match for my personality and temperament
I look forward to talking with Emily every week. She really listens and makes me feel like she cares. I love how she is able to get me to reach my own conclusions by asking me the right questions, rather than reaching the conclusions herself.
Emily has been responsive and made me feel supported to work on things as they emerged. I came to her thinking my primary focus would be ADHD, but as we discussed things and I realized that relationship challenges and trauma were emerging as more disruptive in my life, she pivoted and was right there with me ready to keep moving forward. She also has had great ideas for activities for me to try that help with really thorny and complicated internal issues. Lastly, as a trans woman, it is hard to feel confident that a new therapist will fully understand me or know how to support me, but she genuinely gets me and has understood exactly how to be affirming and engage with how gender intersects with all my other challenges. Definitely would recommend her to any trans or queer friends in need of a counselor!
I have had a few sessions with Emily on a variety of issues from parenting to issues with family/marriage/relationships, etc.. She is very attentive, kind and truly seems to want to get all facts before offering advice. She has been wonderful thus far!
Emily is excellent - she manages to be affirming, positive and challenging.
As someone who has never believed in therapy, Emily has opened the door and made it feel natural. Like talking to an old friend. Letting some of my thoughts out that i've held in for a long time has been lifting the weight off my shoulders day by day
Emily is the biz.
I'm incredibly great full for the help Emily has given me! She's a lifesaver in the literal sense!
I really enjoy therapy with Emily. She is very professional but still gives me the feeling like I'm talking to a friend. She always pays attention to what needs to be talked about, even if the plan for the session was different before. If something doesn't work out the way we were hoping to she will find a new approach! I would definitely recommend her as a therapist!
I’m so happy I found Emily. She’s easy to talk to and offers great advice. I feel I can be open and honest with her because she offers judgement-free, open minded therapy. She has helped me see things in a different light. Emily always offers a perspective I’ve never thought of and wants the best for me. She responds to my messages quickly. She’s compassionate. It feels like talking to a friend. I highly recommend this therapist especially if you are a part of the LGBTQ community, like me!
very good therapist
She is very easy going and easy to talk to
All I can say is that, I wish I've met her years sooner.
I was nervous at first to meet a therapist but Emily made me feel comfortable right from the beginning. She gives you all the options to talk over message, phone call or video call. She has been very flexible with my schedule and is very helpful. When our times were clashing she did give me the option to get another therapist that might work better with my schedule, but I did not want to start all over. I enjoy talking with her in each session and she helps me come to some realizations that I never thought of before. She is real and down to earth and honest, that for me is the best. I am happy that she is my therapist and I would have been sad if I had to start over with another.
I came to BetterHelp with a lot of questions about myself, Emily helped me navigate through my issues, I know now on what do I need to focus on further and what is irrelevant for me. My future is now more clear and positive. Next time when I need help I would be happy to work with her again!
Emily is a great partner to heal with. Compassionate, motivational and inspirational. Good listener with authentic aura, gave me support and confidence in my Journey inside my true goals. Totally worth it, thank you Emily!
Right off the bat I felt comfortable talking to Emily and sharing my feelings. She has a great comforting demeanor and makes you feel safe to share your thoughtful. She really listens and understands what I’m saying. I’m thankful to have her as my counselor.
