More about Barbara

  • 15 years' experience
  • Female
  • Psychologist

Recently, a client said to me: "There was this one thing you said that really turned things around for me, really changed my mind, and because of that, I've grown so much in just a few sessions!" My name is Barbara Gormley, I'm a licensed psychologist in Colorado, New Mexico, and Georgia, and I have more than 15 years of experience helping people who want or need to make a change. I tend to focus on building a strong relationship between us, so wherever the work takes us, we can go there. Sometimes people just need someone to listen to them while they sort out what they think they should do. Others need suggestions or to learn some new skills. Occasionally, someone needs to hear feedback about how they are coming across. I'm flexible, and we can create whatever kind of environment would help you the most. My doctorate in Counseling Psychology is from Michigan State University and my master's degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling is from Central Michigan University. I look forward to hearing from you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Barbara has a calm and centering spirit. She listens attentively and responds with thoughtful consideration. She is easy to speak with and deliveries considerations in a very easy to digest way.

Barbara is wonderful! What I expected to be a venting session ended up being so much more productive and valuable. She helped me actually work through some things instead of just complaining about them. And she was so sweet because after I told her that she said "I could always just listen to venting too :) ". She's just wonderful!
