Welcome!

My name is Penny Carey and I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist (LMHC) in Florida, as well as a Qualified Supervisor for both Mental Health and Marriage and Family Registered interns. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado.

I am an Air Force Veteran who served around the world before finishing my degree's and obtaining my goal of becoming a Clinical Therapist. I graduated from Park University with my Social Psychology degree, and attended Colorado School pf Professional Psychology for my Masters in Clinical Psychology and my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I have been very lucky to have the opportunity to work with different populations with different mental health needs, and have obtained ongoing training to add to my toolbox to use with my clients.

I strive to provide a positive, supportive, encouraging, non-judgmental, and relaxing atmosphere where you can feel safe to engage in the therapy. I utilize multiple therapeutic approaches and work to meet my clients where they are and to walk beside them as we navigate the therapeutic process. I am a strength-based therapist who encourages personal growth, while identifying strengths, increasing personal growth and encouraging self-care.

I have experience working with adults and adolescents in several different settings, to include outpatient, inpatient and residential settings. I have worked with a wide range of concerns to include Substance Abuse, PTSD, ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Abuse and Trauma (sexual, verbal, physical, emotional) Women’s/Men's Issues, conflicts in the family and School/work issues.

I am a sex positive, and kink knowledgeable therapist with an open mindset and a clear understanding that we are all different and I'm experienced in working with individuals who are active in alternative lifestyles, polyamory/open/casual relationships, as well as individuals who struggle with Gender identity, and sexual desire/intimacy/dysfunctions/issues.

I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
