I’ve had a great experience working with Wale as my therapist. It can be difficult to find a therapist you truly connect with, but Wale has done an incredible job of making me feel heard and understood. He’s attentive, thoughtful, and always tailors the sessions to meet my specific needs. I actually look forward to our meetings, which is not something I can say about every therapist I’ve had. Wale’s approach makes me feel comfortable and supported, and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a therapist who genuinely cares and listens.

Welcome to Better Help! I want to commend you for taking this challenging step to create the change that you want. My name is Wale Adegbenle, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of New York. I earned my Master of Social Work degree, specializing in Health and Substance Abuse, from Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare in 2003. I am also a Certified Case Manager and trained as a geriatric case manager. I have worked with many individuals and families, who have a variety of personal issues such as depression/anxiety, stress, trauma/abuse, family problems, addictions of all kinds, relationships/parenting, and many more in different settings.

In a nutshell: I'm a Christian husband and father of 3 children, who love to serve and provide mental health services. My education and career have always focused on my passion for working with individuals and their families.

My counseling style is relationship-centered, compassionate, focused, and validating. I pride myself on being a patient mental health provider and a good listener that will meet you where you are and help you to set realistic and actionable goals for treatment. My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Strengths-Based counseling techniques.

I am here to support and help you navigate through the things that you’ve indicated are difficult for you right now. My goal is to offer you a safe space to be open without fear of judgment while providing you the guidance, support, and counseling that you are seeking. I take my job seriously and honor the time you choose to share with me.

I look forward to connecting with you soon and navigating through this journey of support together.

Wale was a large part in helping me get away from my addiction. He was very easy to talk to and very supportive. We talked once a week for 4 weeks until my membership ran out. He was able to get me to excercise parts of my brain that were key in helping me stay away from alcohol. I really appreciate you Wale and wish you the best. -Joel
