More about Emily

I am a licensed professional counselor with a masters degree in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. I work with children, adolescents, and adults with a wide array of presenting issues. I spend the majority of my work time working with those who have experienced traumatic events or struggle with emotional regulation. I also find joy in helping people build skills to cope with anxiety or depression, supporting people as they learn and practice implementing boundaries with people around them, and/or working with someone to find purpose and value.

I believe a collaborative therapeutic relationship where we find a way together- each of my therapeutic relationships look different as I personalize my approach and skill set based on what we decide together. I value every person's beliefs, lifestyles, and experiences and often use these things in our discussion around how to instill therapeutic change. My style is very "realist-based" in that we assess what barriers present in your life and create change keeping those in mind. That does not mean those barriers cannot change but they don't always have to create change.

The main theories or approaches I work within are the following: CBT, DBT, Family Systems, Existential, and Person-Centered.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
