Hello! I’m Lanie, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri and Kansas. I believe it is very necessary for you to feel confident and secure with those you trust to connect with on your path in this world. I also believe that it is a more genuine relationship when you have some idea of your provider’s life education vs just formal education. I completed my Master's Degree in Counseling with an emphasis in
Marriage and Family Counseling in 1999 at the University of Missouri Kansas City. I have been very fortunate to be able to have a career filled with 22 years of work that is incredibly diverse in the cultures, issues, people, settings and approaches involved. I believe this has been partly due to my own history including such diverse influences.

I’ve spent most of my career working with people who have experienced complex trauma including children and adults recovering traumatic loss, abuse, abduction, first responders, military and other healthcare providers who struggle to know where to turn. I have been proud to assist non profit, government and private agencies in resiliency efforts such as active shooter drills and consultation to assist in creating trauma informed care and judicial systems.

I have found mindfulness based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to be very effective in combination with an understanding of the neuroscience of habit change. As we work together you will become more present, “make room” for adversity, define your identity and commit to a life filled with rich meaning and a sense of purpose.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Lane has a gift for therapy. She listens, helps and makes you feel at ease to share your experience even if it is painful. I trust her because of her acceptance and nonjudgmental attitude. She is bringing healing to my life.

Reviewed March 2022

Lane has been a life changing addition to my life. I have experienced many types of therapy throughout my life, but never felt as supported and heard as much as a I feel with Lane. I honestly feel like I’m talking with a friend and we can share many laughs, yet also get into dark, emotional topics easily. I often reflect on how I wish everyone could have her as a therapist during our sessions, because I truly think everyone could benefit from her. Thank you for everything! 10/10 ;)

I was on the verge of giving up finding the right therapist for me and then I found Lane. She is supporting me through one of the most difficult times in my life and helping me understand and process. She is one of a kind, always makes my day and her sense of humour makes me feel lighter.

Lane Miller is easy to talk to and is able to adapt to my style of conversation, she displays a positive outlook and provides tools and feedback that are helpful in a traumatic situation, also lets you know that you are in the right path and things that you could do differently in order to heal. Overall I am happy with my therapist selection.

Reviewed November 2021

Lanie is insightful, open minded, and empathic. I've had different therapists over the years and I would say she is one of the best, most supportive, and productive I have had. Would highly recommend her.

Reviewed September 2021

We just started but I already see a difference in myself since before I started.

Reviewed July 2021

She's very kind and patient with her patients. Trying to be understanding and help you with your needs. She's very funny and gives great advise when you ask her. Don't be afraid to be honest with her. So you're able to take the first step to the road on helping yourself.

Reviewed July 2021

It's only been a short time. But extremely good. I'm learning a lot from her and it's all really helpful and easy to integrate. Plus she understands Trauma super well. Many therapists I've had before just pushed me to do physical action on my goals or dismissed my trauma. But Lane truly understands and helps you on where you are at to get better.
