More about Pamela

  • 19 years' experience

I have been a licensed professional clinical counselor (LCPC) for the last 19 years. I received my Masters of Science degree from the University of Baltimore in 2002. I got my supervisory clinical license in 2011 to help new practioners in the field of mental health. I have worked in a variety of settings, but my longest tenure was in a community outpatient mental health agency, where I was fortunate enough to work with a diverse population of patients. I have specialization and certifications in parenting and co-parenting training. I am also trained in CISM (critical incident stress management) for PTSD and problems associated with traumatic events. I enjoy helping people work through depression, anxiety and general life stressors as well. I am trained to work with clients on trauma through TF-CBT, as well as- attachment models of care. I have also worked as a therapist for executive business leaders. I have also had experience working with transitional age individuals from 18-25 years old, helping individuals find their place in the world and making a plan for their future. My experience offers depth and diversity to any individual that seeks counseling with me. I have a humanistic approach and I understand that everyone is trying to do the best they can at this thing called life.

I want to meet any new patient where they are and will work to encourage positive change. I help people identify underlying causes of symptoms and provide strategies for changing unwanted thoughts and behaviors. I hope to equip you with the skills to manage symptoms, reduce stress, and improve your quality of life. I will help you learn skills for handling difficult situations, making healthy decisions, and reaching your goals.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
