Hello, and thank you for taking a look at my profile! My name is Chris Ewald, and I have been working as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Illinois since 2012. During that time I've worked as an inpatient therapist at a hospital, outpatient at several clinics and agencies, provided in-home therapy, and now online through Betterhelp. I've worked quite a bit with families (including children and parents of adoptive families!), helped many clients deal with childhood traumas, and have worked with couples on improving their communication and relationships.

I believe in treating you as a whole person and will work with you to explore your past experiences, your current problems and strengths, and to target how you would like to grow in the future. Whether you have experienced trauma, or are struggling with depression, anxiety, or relational issues, my goal is to help you overcome these obstacles and live the life that you want. I believe we often need to treat ourselves better than we do, and help clients do that through looking at their actions, words, and thoughts. I use a Humanistic/Person-Centered approach to treatment, but can use, when appropriate, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems Therapy, Mindfulness, Attachment Theory, and I have completed Level 1 training in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
