Dr. Parker has made counseling a painless experience. I was very nervous starting this process and very much felt like a failure for turning to counseling. Dr. Parker has quickly become an integral part of my current life. We started my therapy during a time of big changes I was experiencing, with new trial and/or tribulations coming to surface on a weekly basis which had to be dealt with or talked through before returning back to my baseline of issues. Dr. Parker took this on with me in stride, she helped me to face a lot of my fears, see situations from a context outside of my own, hone me into the reality of the situation and helped bring to light contexts of it that were more black and white than I could have seen myself. Although I understand how the relationship between a client and his/her therapist works, to me, Dr. Parker has quickly grown into a friend/mentor-like figure for me. She won’t ever outright throw you some advice, as much as sometimes you might feel like you want it, but she will help color a situation and help you to see where it is that you might need to go. I have come to grow a lot of respect for her, she is strong and kind and she is understanding. She will make time for me and check up on me in times where maybe I need it more than usual. I’ve never had a strong and trusting relationship with a therapist before, I never felt like I ever got a chance to make a good fit with anyone prior to now.
