More about RaDonna

  • 22 years' experience

Hi! My name is RaDonna and I am a licensed clinical professional counselor in the State of Illinois and am also a board certified professional counselor. I have worked in the counseling field for over 24 years and have worked in a variety of settings including domestic violence services, community mental health, crisis and on-call services within the hospital/ER, child welfare, private practice and outreach counseling to schools. In the last two decades, I have assisted individuals, groups, couples and families with many different issues; including grief/loss, life transitions, depression, stress and anxiety, dual diagnosis, conflict resolution, trauma and abuse, self-esteem issues.

I believe that we are all a product of our experiences, and the challenges I have faced in my life have formed in me a strong desire to help others to manage what they are struggling with currently. It can feel overwhelming to manage our issues and situations alone. Counseling can help alleviate those feelings of frustration and we can begin to feel supported, regarded, and heard as we make changes to overcome each challenge that is keeping us from living a healthier and happier life.

I use an eclectic approach to therapy, which means I draw from many different counseling theories and use techniques that suit the needs of the client. I have had extensive training in dialectical behavioral therapy, but draw from person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, art and play therapy, and solution focused therapy, among others.

I am a personable therapist who tries to provide a safe, warm, supportive and nonjudgmental counseling environment, but I hope to also challenge you in an encouraging manner to make changes when necessary to help you improve your situation. I will meet you wherever you are within your struggle and work to build a relationship of trust, so that we can work together in a collaborative manner to set goals and take steps for you to accomplish your goals and feel better about yourself and your life.

I would love to learn more about you and to see if we can work together to make the changes you desire.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
