About Me

Life is a journey of twists and turns, hills and valleys, good times, and not so good times.

My name is Jacquelyn Mentor and I have experienced many difficult times such as the loss of a child, parents, and husband. At one time I was a divorced and remarried, which made me a single parent for a few years. I was a care taker for both my parents, plus I am a breast cancer survivor. I am survivor, because of my faith, family , friends, and professional help.

I have a B. S. and M.S. degree in Psychology. I also earned an Ed.D degree in Counseling Psychology. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Supervisor. My experience includes over twenty decades of working with families in the areas of domestic violence, child abuse, marital counseling, developmental disabilities, school issues, parenting skills, widowhood, anger management, behavioral issues, conflict resolution, relationship problems ,trauma, and crisis issues.

My goal is to listen, be non-judgmental, supportive, be sympathetic , empathetic , be respectful, and provide a warm safe confidential environment. I will also provide you with some tools in the form of helpful resources, because psychoeducation is very important. The therapeutic relationship will be genuine, friendly, relaxing, calm, and professional. Overall, I am trustworthy and have a passion for helping people.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

She's an understanding, empathetic, and kind therapist. She has been great at working with me through all of my struggles in dealing with my childhood traumas, working through them, processing them, and coming to terms with all the emotions that come with it. She has also been very helpful with how to react when dealing with toxic people and family members. She has helped me realize about personal power and about how important boundaries are. She has made me realize a lot of things and how toxic my childhood was. She made me realize how some of my coping mechanism were from my traumatic upbringing. She has shined the light on the things I thought were "normal" to be unhealthy. She is helping me grow as a person by shinning a light on things I didn't realize and how to respond in healthier ways.
