More about Sally

  • 8 years' experience
  • Female
  • LMHC

I am 50 years old, married, and have three children. I have a Master’s in Professional Counseling, am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with the state of Florida, and I have my Master's Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP) and International Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC) certifications in FL. I have worked in the past for over 6 years in substance use treatment, at South County Mental Health Clinic Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU); and currently as a Private Practice Psychotherapist and as a Mental Health Counselor in Palm Beach County School District serving children and their families. I graduated with honors from Grand Canyon University with my Master’s degree for Professional Counseling on April 23, 2016; and with honors in October 2011 with a Bachelors of Science in Addiction Counseling. In addition, I hold an Associates Degree in Business Management obtained in 1990 from Lehigh County Community College in PA.

I value the relationship with my clients and believe that such a relationship is the beacon in the healing process. I believe that each individual is unique and has his/her own way of addressing issues. Thus, I believe in an eclectic approach in use of therapy models when working with individuals, couples, families, and/or those who consider themselves part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Therapeutic approaches that I use (but am not limited to) are; a Wellness Model of Counseling, emphasizing strengths as well as personal choices and the importance of daily decision making, to achieve the goal of an increasingly healthy lifestyle; Solution Focused Therapy, which focuses on solutions to problems or issues, and discovering the resources and strengths a person has, rather than focusing on the problem; Cognitive Behavior Therapy, which can be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, PTSD, and severe mental illness; and Motivational Interviewing technique that helps to empower my clients to overcome their obstacles. I believe that the client can be empowered, so they themselves can focus on what works for them, and not in a systematic approach that provides a generic procedure on working on a treatment. One's journey is not the same as another's. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
