Hello and Welcome. My name is Matt Volker, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with more than nine years of experience. For some asking for help and speaking to a counselor can be scary; however, by being here, you have already taken the hardest step. By taking the next step, know that you are not alone, and we can walk together through the journey of your life. My desire is to create a safe space for you to work on the things that are important to you.

Some of the intervention that I utilize are Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Positive Psychology and Reality Therapy. I work with adults, adolescents, and couples, with a focus on working toward optimal functioning. I use a holistic approach integrating a mind, body, and a spiritual approach, while incorporating mindfulness and meditation into your life to bring awareness and calmness.

I would ask that you take a breath… You have made the first choice to get better… Are you ready to begin?

Namaste…

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Matt is a great guy who truly listens and allows me to get out what’s going on in my head. I tend to talk a lot but Matt allows me that space to say what I need to then offers a thoughtful response. I appreciate Matt’s ability to offer solutions while also being honest and not afraid to address the underlying causes and challenges of certain situations. Matt is an asset to BetterHelp and hopefully you pay him what he’s worth. Thank you Matt!

Reviewed January 2022

Matt is a fantastic ally in my quest to search for a more ideal version of myself and my life. I can already tell I'm going to fail to do him justice, but let me start by saying that after having tried a variety of therapists over the years, Matt is the only one I've seen for more than a handful of meetings. He has a quiet wisdom and a light, guiding touch, never trying to force you down a path, but instead helping you to become aware that other paths exist. I've had difficulty following the recommendations of other therapists in the past, and/or committing to guidance, even if I participated in creating it. As such, I require a cautious approach, and any self-realization or discovery has to come from within. Matt is excellent at helping me to do this - he's an exceptional listener, and generally only speaks when he has something worthwhile to say. Most of the help he's given me has been in the form of questions - he'll ask a question along a line of thought I hadn't considered, or shines light on a subject from a different perspective. He's very patient, and gives me the space I need to have my own realizations, instead of trying to lead me to the ones he thinks I should have. Even on days where we don't discuss topics of any real substance, just talking with him seems to clear my head and set me at ease. I always feel more relaxed after a session. The structure of our discussions, and my therapy in general, has been very organic - my focus is allowed to wander, arriving at the things I want to discuss when I'm ready to do so. If it's a day I want to talk about something mundane and inconsequential, he gives me the freedom to do so without trying to steer things back to deeper waters, and I appreciate that. Ultimately, I guess what I want to say is that I'm comfortable with Matt, and for me, that's a new and significant experience. I suspect he's well versed in other methods of therapy poo, and can probably provide a structured, detailed program with the best of them, but in my case, he listened and understood what works best for me. That's a rare skill, in my experience, and I'm glad to have found someone with such a refined skill set.

Matt has been a great resource for my wife and I as we work to resolve some communication issues in our relationship. Matt is a great listener and always extremely responsive. I would highly recommend Matt to anyone seeking guidance in their relationship.

Reviewed June 2021

Matt is a great guy. Listens to my concerns, which prompts a thoughtful response but he’s also on my level. I don’t feel like I’m talking to a therapist instead i feel like I am talking to someone who genuinely wants to help me and not mark me as another client. Matt’s ability to be honest open and let me choose the direction of the conversation often gets me to say what’s really on My mind which is why I’m here. Noticeable differences between now and before I started my anxiety And overall sense of worry has lessened in part to what Matt has taught me and allowed me to see what is and isn’t working for me. He helps you come to the realization for yourself which is where the real progress happens. Thank you Matt for your patience, time, honesty and overall support. My first therapist and he hit it out of the park. PS - better help give this guy a raise will ya? He’s earned it

Matthew provides a comfortable and safe environment that makes opening up seem effortless.

Reviewed May 2021

I always find the motivation and energy to go on about my daily life after my sessions with my therapist. Being from a different culture, he always asks questions rather than just assume based on what he has been read and told. This helps me immensely since by explaining to him, he could have a better understanding and help me cope and find solutions to my problems. I always end my sessions feelings happy and nostalgic, and this is coming from a person that lives in an incredibly toxic environment. I’d recommend him in a heart beat.
