More about Sherrie

  • 9 years' experience

  • LCSW

I am a licensed clinical social worker in Florida with more than 20 years of experience in the field, I have helped hospice patients work through end of life issues and I've worked with caregivers to address family conflicts, compassion fatigue and caregiver burnout. I've also helped people with depression and anxiety find ways to move through their emotional pain to live more comfortably in a difficult world.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I have worked with clients in all phases of finding and embracing their place on the gender / orientation spectrum, as well as their friends and family members who may also be struggling to understand and/ or accept what this journey encompasses.

I use a wide variety of modalities, including motivational interviewing, bibliotherapy, elements of narrative therapy and CBT techniques to break the cycle of anxiety and negative thought processes. My work is solution focused, and the direction we take is always decided by you, the client.

There is no better time than now to reach out for support. I'm glad you have taken this first step and I look forward to sharing this process with you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Working with Sherrie has, in short, changed my life. Not so much from the advice and suggestions she gives (which are all sound and reasonable), but from the self-awareness she has helped me develop and the mental tools she’s shown me how to utilize and implement into my everyday life. I recommend working with her if you’re brave enough to discover the core of who you are and what you’re meant to do in life to the highest degree. Thank you Sherrie for all the work we’ve done over the years and thank you BetterHelp for creating such an incredible platform that makes self healing and therapy so easy and simple. 5 stars! Can’t recommend it enough.

Talking with Sherrie is like a visit to Grandma’s House if your grandma is the sort of cook who lets you put on the apron and use the tools if you tell her you’re sure you want to try. Like really, really, sure (she wants you to be 100%, ok no 80% correct. She can clean up if you run into an error, but it is a hassle.) She is constantly checking on you because she is your Nana and she loves you a whole, whole lot. And it can be a tad overwhelming if you forget you can ask for help… and she says “What did you do” but if you can explain how you got here she will give you partial credit” TLDR: like a visit to grandma through the woods and when you get there she has made your favorite food, and set your favorite sauce on the table exactly where you usually sit. But if you ask nicely, she’ll put you somewhere else. 8.9992/10 stars
