I’m a licensed psychotherapist, registered nurse, and a board-certified sex therapist. I graduated with a master’s degree in Counselor Education, from Florida International University. My experience includes community mental health, correctional mental health, domestic violence/sexual assault counseling, and private practice. I have experience in treating depression, anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, family-of-origin issues, sexual issues, and intimacy issues. My most recent experience includes working as an adjunct professor, of psychopathology, at Barry University. Prior to pursuing a career in counseling, I worked in an acute care setting for over twenty years; First, as an intensive care room nurse; Later, as a case manager in the emergency department. I am fluent in English and Spanish.
My approach is to begin by assessing all aspects of the client’s life, especially family history. This usually takes a session or two. It allows me to thoroughly understand the client and their motivations. I like to use a blend of cognitive-behavioral interventions, dialectical-behavioral therapy interventions, some psychodynamic interventions, and a lot of psychoeducation in my practice. I believe in a warm, professional, non-judgmental approach. I have much respect for all of my clients and admire the courage they have for taking the steps to look into themselves and evolve. I see the therapeutic relationship as a partnership rather than a therapist-knows-best relationship.
I chose to become a counselor because I love the work and believe in its importance. I genuinely look forward to working with anyone seeking improvement and self-actualization.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
