More about Gale

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and briefly explain the therapeutic process. My name is Gale Kelley and I am a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.), in Clinical Psychology and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. Over the past sixteen years I have provided individual, family, and group psychotherapy to people of all ages and backgrounds who find themselves faced with a variety of mental health concerns. From a client-centered perspective, I believe that we all possess the strengths needed to attain and maintain good mental health and wellbeing, which sometimes requires that we reach out to others.

My therapeutic approach is holistic/integrative which emphasizes the mind body connection while incorporating various elements of different theories. Traditional evidence-based therapeutic protocols such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy stresses how people can change negative thought patterns, beliefs, and behaviors so they can enjoy a less stressful and more productive lifestyle. I am particularly drawn to psychoeducation to help my clients better understand human behavior and the therapeutic process. My philosophy is that the more we know, the better we understand, and the better we understand, the more likely we are to engage. I utilize a variety of evidence-based assessment instruments that will help me target areas that may be impacting mental health and/or daily functioning. These typically involve a series of questions that you will answer during our first meeting. Then we’ll make a list of goals that you would like to accomplish during our work together.

I wholeheartedly encourage a collaborative working relationship and will frequently monitor the progress throughout the therapeutic process. My clients can expect to have a take-away (something that will improve your current situation) from every session. This can be a new perspective of an ongoing problem or an emotional regulation skill that will help you better manage situations you cannot change. I pride myself on providing personalized, comprehensive health care that will focus on wellness and prevention.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Dr. Kelley is very skilled at focusing on the heart of the matter. In having some family conflict, whilst living with my in-laws. I kept an open mind coming into therapy, and just followed and tackled the tools she provided. My life has changed for the better because of her guidance, and our discussions. I feel more like myself than I have in a very long time. My anxiety has discipated. This experience was absolutely worth it.

Dr. Kelley is extremely helpful, supportive, and knowledgeable. She encouraged me to do things that are good for my overall wellbeing. When counseling, educates me on theories surrounding my problems, but she also offers me a chance to come to conclusions on my own. She is very respectful of my faith and commends me for reaching out to elders in my congregation.
