Hello there, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. I have been working as a Mental Health/Addictions Counselor since 2012. I specialize in Addictions and Mental Health issues, and working with adults. I graduated from Troy University with a masters in counseling and psychology in 2016. As well as being a fully licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida, I also hold certifications as a Nationally Certified Counselor and as a Certified Master's Level Addictions Professional.
For the years that I have been working as a therapist, I have developed a theoretical approach that is predominantly based on client-centered, solution-focused and cognitive behavioral therapy. Although I tend to lean to these approaches, I do consider myself to be eclectic, meaning that I will draw from different therapeutic approaches as needed for each individual. I have an extensive amount of experience providing therapy in different environments to individuals with a wide range of personal issues, including substance abuse/dual diagnosis, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, PTSD, trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, anger, self-esteem, grief, and family problems.
My focus as a therapist is to help individuals heal, energize, and get to the place where they can feel, think and act in the ways that they are searching for. I am also a spiritual individual that relishes helping clients develop a deeper spiritual connection, a more confident sense of themselves and their strengths.
I look forward to working with you, and I promise to be there for you every step of your journey.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Only had one session, but it corresponds to what I expected. James is engaging and a good listener, offering advice but also getting me to share. So far a good experience.
We have had two sessions so far and have already got deep into my issues and identified a plan to help me get the breakthrough I am looking for.
I am still in the very beginning stages of my counseling, but so far J. Malone has given me more insight, a couple new perspectives, and much food for thought! I am very appreciative of his knowledge and truthfulness. I believe only positive will come from our sessions and my growth!
All i can say is- Bless James! Its like it was divine intervention to reach out to someone during my lowest. James has been excellent and very empathetic, in every genuine way.
Very helpful
Where do I begin. I still have a long way to go but I came a long way. I am pursuing opportunities I would have been very anxious to ever try. I have been misdiagnosed so many times and in my very first phone call with James, I felt hope. He made me feel understood, safe and normal. I thought I was just anxious, vigilant and depressed, and manic.. . I thought that was livable enough.. I have accepted that was my fate, after a series of abuse. I have no doubt in my mind that I will be better. I have every hope and faith...from hopeless to hopeful. Thank you to BetterHelp. Thank you to James Malone.
I cannot recommend James highly enough. He helped me so much with the severe bouts of anxiety I was suffering from and my sessions with him allowed me to change up the way I was thinking/handling the obsessive thoughts I was having. After working with him for a few months I can genuinely say I feel substantially better equipped to handle my anxiety, whenever it gets to me again. I learned a lot about myself and feel that I understand my mental health and how to keep it in check more than I ever have. James is a genuinely kind, understanding and non-judgemental person - and his sense of humour can really help to brighten your situation and put a smile on your face. Thank you for everything, James!
It's been great working with James. I am excited to see where this process continues to go.
James is awesome. He checks in on me via text a couple of times a week and he also listens. I don't share many things with anyone and I feel so comfortable with him I told him things I would never tell anyone. James is very honest and straight forward and I like that in people. Looking forward to continuing to work with James.
I haven't spent long with James, but so far he's been great. Easy to talk to, relateable, explains things in an easy way, and gives good advice.
He is just great!
James is kind and he does well at giving feedback on what I have to say during my phone calls. He does not hesitate to share his personal experience to connect with me, giving me the sense that not only am I being heard but I am also not alone.
My counselor James Malone is a perfect match for my needs. He is down to earth, empathetic and doesn’t appear to judge my circumstances. He helps me see things with a new perspective and offers solution based counseling. I am thankful for his support and have hope for a brighter future with his guidance.
James appears to be a very competent counsellor and I do appreciate his health and his support.
He was really nice and funny and a good listener :)
James has helped me a lot in a very short time. It's amazing how healing the therapeutic relationship is. James' willingness to share his past trials has helped put my issues in perspective. He's a real and very relatable person. James helps me feel like an equal instead of just a client. I highly recommend James Malone!
James is thoughtful and communicates so well. He is nonjudgmental, and offers me a variety of ways to express and deal with my feelings.
James is really a great person and professional on his job. He is helping me with all my past bad experiences and is giving me a more clear look on life. I would highly recommend James!
He’s a great counselor, very professional and empathetic. He listens well to my problems and give me solutions. I definitely recommend him !
James has been a tremendous help in guiding me through an extremely traumatic event. He has helped me to see the correct and faulty thinking I might harbor about this event. We took side-trips and explored other events and relationships that were connected to the traumatic event, some of them more closely than others. James was always available to talk to me through a variety of different media. I appreciated the ease of contact. I wouldn't say that all my issues are "solved" but I feel like I have a better understanding of certain events and better tools to manage them with.
James is attentive, supportive and kind. I appreciate his comfortable approach and the reminders he sends to take care of myself, and the positivity he expresses.
