Welcome to my counseling page! My name is Rebecca Leader, I am a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor and licensed school counselor, with over 20 years of experience working with adults, teens, children, and families. I have a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the State University of New York at Oneonta and a Masters of Science in Counseling from Sage Graduate School in Troy, New York. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed School Counselor in the State of Florida. I have been in the counseling field since 2005 and have worked in both educational and clinical settings doing individual and group counseling. I am also certified in maternal mental health and wellness and as a Circle of Security facilitator (a parent-child relationship strengthening program).

I truly believe therapy is a collaborative experience, meaning that a healthy therapeutic relationship between a client and therapist is essential for a successful outcome. My overall goal as a therapist is to create a safe, comfortable, and non-judgmental space where we can collaboratively develop healthier coping skills for stress, depression, and anxiety so you can begin living a more content and harmonious life every day. Together we will work towards identifying the problems and unhealthy coping skills in your life. We will begin to develop the healthy coping skills and set goals that are needed to repair your relationships and live the best version of yourself possible. Every person is different, and every counseling plan will be individualized based on your unique needs.

I use a variety of counseling techniques that include psychotherapy (talk therapy), cognitive-behavioral therapy (changing negative thinking patterns to help you feel/behave more positively), solution-focused therapy, and interpersonal therapy (focuses on the relationship people have with others). In my experience, therapy is most successful through weekly counseling (either via video or phone) and fulfilling goal oriented "homework" assignments in-between sessions.

I know it isn’t easy to ask for help, I think it takes a great deal of courage to take this step. My ultimate goal with clients is to help empower them to develop the confidence and courage they need to grow and change in positive ways. I look forward to joining you on this journey of self-growth and discovery together.

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

Rebecca dials in to things I present in our discussions in a manner that I am always surprised by. She has an innate ability to connect dots that may seems irrelevant. She has helped me construct a woven fabric of personal awareness. While at the same time, assisted me in building tools to navigate with my awareness. I’m so grateful to work with Rebecca!

Reviewed September 2020

Rebecca has been wonderful to work with. Working with her feels very natural and she has not only figured out what my actual diagnosis is (which helped a lot), she helped educate me about it and provided me with really really useful tools and insights that I will continue to use moving forward that I believe will be essential in minimizing/preventing further rough patches. I feel much more in control now than I did when we started and I'm so grateful! She is very professional but also very real and easy/fun to talk to. Thank you Rebecca!!
