More about Amy

  • 39 years' experience

  • LMHC

I have been doing counseling for over 35 years. When I lived in Pennsylvania, I worked as a school counselor in a high school for 28 years and also maintained a private practice. Since moving to Florida, I worked in a private practice in which I specialized in both adolescents and adults. I also work with families and couples. I worked at Better Help before and formed many successful relationships with clients. I consider myself to be an eclectic counselor who is genuine, supportive, and empathetic. I have been in therapy many times and definitely understand how helpful it can be to have someone who is in your corner, advocating and believing solely in you. I consider myself liberal and non-judgmental and I would be surprised if there was something you could tell me that I have not heard before, I also have a strong sense of humor and know that humor has saved me many times from my own issues. I received my Master's degree in 1980 in Marriage, family, and Child Counseling, but I consider that my life experience just as important in having added to my counseling skills. Many counselors can learn from books, but I incorporate all I have learned in my own life experience into the work I do with clients. Let's talk.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I’ve always been scared of counseling and avoided it for many years but this platform made it easier and Amy is brilliant and settled me in very quickly by asking all the right questions. She checks up on me too if I’ve been quiet for a couple of days. Such a relief to feel like someone cares.

Amy always listens to me and makes suggestions that I would never have thought about. She has knowledge about multiple fields. If I don't respond for a couple of days then she contacts me to check in and is very understanding of all my concerns. I often feel like I'm not heard but Amy makes sure that I feel heard and understood. She understands my aversion to medication and she has to provided me the information about medications as well as other options without pushing me. I have recommended her to my co-worker who struggles with similar issues to mine and she already loves Amy based on my sessions that I've allowed her to listen to. Thank you Amy
