Hello,

My name is Greg Van Pelt and I have been working with families of adolescents, pre-teens, and young children (birth - 8) for over 15 years. I earned my Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University and am currently a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. My core approach to treatment is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and some of that trainings which I am most proud of that round out my clinical approach have included Touchpoints, Positive Behavior Support, Early Childhood / Infant Mental Health, and Trauma Informed Care.

My view on how people "get better" is through taking account of the systems they are a part of (family, friends, community, etc.), understanding & strengthening relationships / lines of communication within those systems and ensuring that expectations (both personal and of others) are realistic and fair. My belief is that challenges in any of these areas adds stress to our system which eventually leads difficulties in other areas of life.

**Even though this site is for people 18 and up, my early childhood and infant mental health backgrounds are an important piece of my background because for those parents of young children out there, stress in the relationship between parent & child is a major system stress which impacts other areas of adult life as well as the potential healthy developmental track of the young child.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
