Todd A. Shapiro, LCSW, MPA , a licensed Psychotherapist in Florida and Connecticut, earned a BS in Public Health and Education from the University of Massachusetts and an MSW and MPA from Syracuse University. He brings 35 plus years of social work and psychotherapy experience to BetterHelp. Using skills I have learned as a therapist, I work with adolescents, adults, families, and couples. I am equipped to treat symptomology related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger management, PTSD, marital relationships, parenting, divorce, Bipolar I and II, borderline personality disorders, ACOA, and addictions. I use various modalities to assist his clients to show progress as fast as possible. I am easy-going, humorous, and sometime use a directive style. I am very effective at using EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) at helping couples understand and learn better relationship skills and communication. Parenting is also a challenge; I bring 35 plus years of working with youth in residential and outpatient programs. He is skilled at helping parents develop safe and effective discipline skills leading to healthy family relationships.

My counseling style is pretty laid back. I have been described as supportive, caring, and compassionate, with a pretty good sense of humor. I also like to focus on identifying your strengths and helping you to maximize them to overcome your obstacles.

I'm here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now, and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment.

I'm sorry you are having a tough time right now, but I'm really glad you are reaching out.

You have taken the first and most important step by reaching out for help.

I look forward to meeting.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
