I have worked with individuals, ages 6 to 80 with a range of reasons they are seeking therapy, including, stress, trauma, post traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, addictions, obsessive compulsive disorder, social conflict, family conflict, gender and sexual identity concerns, mood dysregulation, and pain.

I have been trained in several evidence-based interventions including, multi systemic therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy, mindfulness based cognitive therapy, EFT, and EMDR. in addition I have training in yoga, meditation, and stress management techniques.

I take a holistic approach to therapy and employ different interventions based on need, preference, and desired outcomes. I work collaboratively with clients to develop their treatment goals and treatment plan so that the treatment is tailored to each unique person.

I believe the goals of therapy are to:

Increase our understanding of ourselves

Learn to mange stress more effectively

Learn to be less reactive to our thoughts or body sensations

Learn to create healthier habits

Learn to create secure attachment relationships

Learn to like the self

Learn to soothe the self

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Dr. Swiderski has been instrumental in helping me systematically breakdown and address a variety of areas that seemed so complex previously. Her active, methodical, collaborative, "get stuck in" approach provides a real sense of "team support". She always has sharp recos concerning additional, relevant resources, allowing me to pursue growth in my own time should I choose to do so. Great listener/communicator, sharp and very responsive - Dr. Swiderski is a great asset to anyone's overall "health team".

Reviewed December 2020

Dr. Swiderski is an amazing counsellor who, in the short time that i've known her, has been extremely helpful and supportive. I feel as though I'm just talking to a friend about the problems in my life rather than a counsellor and she always responds with encouraging words and helps me to work through my issues.
