More about Okechuku

My name is Robert and I would be honored to be your Therapist. I would like to tell you about myself. I have been a Social Worker for the past 20 years and I have worked with a lot of different people in a variety of situations.

I am working on a new schedule. My schedule is 6am to 2:00 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, 6 am to 11 am then 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as Sundays from 1pm to 8 pm Sundays Pacific Standard Time. I am very comfortable conducting therapy via video or phone but not Live chat

The most important thing I need you to know about me and how I work is that I believe Social Work to be a calling and I truly believe in the power of Therapy to change lives. I believe that talking about the things that hurt us provides us with the power to overcome them.

I am more interested in your strengths than your diagnoses. I am more interested in empowering you to make your own decisions than I am in you doing what is “right.”

Regarding therapy, I am not bound to any one theoretical approach. I tend to utilize a variety of approaches in therapy because I want to provide you with a personalized therapeutic experience.

I need you to know that I will only focus on what you think is important. I will not push you to share anything that you are not comfortable sharing but I will ask you questions about things I think are important to provide insight into the situation at hand.

I will always be honest with you in every situation and I will continue to exhibit compassion and empathy towards your situation. One of my favorite sayings regarding therapy is that “It matters because it matters to you.” I look forward to working with you.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Robert listens very well. He is very responsive on the spot, and clear. Because he listens and understands intensely, he is able to advise me faster and better than most therapists who don’t really have much to say or do to help.

Robert is very intuitive, patient, kind and easy to trust. I’ve appreciated his calm nature and strategies for coping with difficult situations, witt when I needed to see the bigger picture, and wisdom throughout our sessions. He is available late nights abs that works perfectly with my busy lifestyle. Once I put the kids to bed, it’s self care time and I appreciate this counseling site so much.

Robert has been extremely helpful and amazing throughout the past few months that we have been working together! He is the best and I feel very comfortable sharing my life experiences and struggles with him. I never feel judged and he always guides me in the right direction. He helps me work through many obstacles and provides tangible steps on how to overcome them. I have learned so much about myself already and really enjoy the self work I am doing. I feel like I am improving with his guidance a little better each day. Continuing to look forward to what more we unlock together throughout my journey in therapy!

I worked with Robert for the last 7 months or so and I can honestly say I will miss having sessions with him. He helped me so much in building a stronger self-esteem, setting healthier boundaries, validating my self-worth, and affirming me and all my stresses. I will truly miss having sessions, and also super appreciate that we got this point where I can take a break from therapy and stand on my own. I have nothing but praise and gratitude for what Robert's done for me, and highly recommend him to folks looking for a therapist. Wishing Robert will for many years to come!

Reviewed September 2021

I worked with Robert for about 8 months. With his help, I’ve learned a lot about myself. At the time I was going through a rough separation and was still indecisive about my next steps. Robert walked me through the process with advice and guidance that allowed me time to process, reflect, and make my own decisions. He allowed me to grieve without judgement. He was honest about the process and told me that my relationship may not last with my growth, but I was glad he was upfront. I’ve learned about what I want and don’t want in a relationship. I’ve come a long way and couldn’t have done that without Robert’s help. He was patient and sat with me through many sob sessions. There’s so much more that one review can’t possibly convey it all. It was also very important for me to have a therapist that was a POC because I was able to discuss family/relationship and racial dynamics I would not have been comfortable doing otherwise. Robert and I had insightful conversations that allowed me to really understand why my relationship was not working. I highly recommend Robert.

Working with Robert these past 5 months has been an incredible experience. I have been given the tools and knowledge of how my anxiety works. I’m so much more aware of my thoughts and emotions now. Robert is truly amazing and I am so grateful to have had such a positive experience, completely tailored to my needs. While my anxiety will be something I will always deal with, I’m confident that the tools and homework I’ve done with Robert will forever be my sword and shield. Thank you, Robert.

Thank you so much! :)

Before I started therapy, I was afraid of who I was going to be communicating with. The first time I met Robert, he made it so easy for me to open up. And it wasn’t just because he was easy to talk to. He helped me take breaths or feel the reactions to my body and guided me through opening up without blaming myself or feeling guilty about the things I need to be said. Thanks to Robert, I found a peace in me that helps me walk through life and not try to get over it. I am very grateful he’s my therapist and if I ever need someone I know I can come back and he’ll be someone I can talk to.

Oh where do I begin! Robert was my very first counselor and I will say I am so glad he was. At first I was very skeptical, but he made me feel heard and validated. He taught me things about myself I didn't even know I needed till then. And with all the sessions we had, I can confidently say, they changed my life for the better. I am so grateful for this

Robert has been my first therapist ever. I felt validated and heard. My first session made a lot of my doubts in my observations I’ve made for problems I’ve been facing. Robert was thorough and validated my perspective and made me understand it is OK to feel my emotions. But not to fall into them.
