Welcome!

Thank you for taking the time to share your current life with me.

My name is Richard Cabada. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 14 years experience working with acute to chronically mentally ill populations from all DSM facets. I have worked with children, couples and families from many backgrounds. I received my B.A. from Colorado College in 2005 and M.S.W. from Smith College School for Social Work in 2008 having been promptly licensed and working in California ever since.

In case you have not done psychotherapy before, psychotherapy is a different kind of talking. The word “psychotherapy” can be broken down into two smaller words “psycho” deriving from the Greek word “psyche” which means soul and “therapy” meaning to sooth or treat. In other words, psychotherapy is the practice of soothing or treating the soul.

Unlike speaking with someone casually, my job is to help you become aware of your stress and psychological/emotional needs soothing whatever ails you. I will be continuously actively listening to you as we speak. I will analyze what you say helping you develop relevant insight where possible. Lastly, I will also give you pertinent feedback as we progress throughout our therapy sessions.

My job is to be attentive to how you feel as we resolve your concerns making sure that I give you feedback in the most effective way possible. I will do my best to help you relate your thoughts with your emotions so that your therapy discoveries are reinforced in the strongest manner possible.

I am not going to lie. This work will take effort on both our parts. Most days we will get far in therapy covering many concerns and developing great skills to overcome them. Some days may be harder. Perhaps because the issues we cover are more difficult or a bad day may interfere with the current progress of therapy.

Throughout our therapy journey, keep in mind the old adage “most worthwhile things in life take effort.” I promise I’ll put in my part in. And with your commitment, you will get the best skills to help you feel better and go out to get what you want in this world.

Thank you,

Richard Cabada, LCSW

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
