ABOUT ME

Hello. My name is Barbara.

I have been practicing as a clinical psychologist for over 33 years in both metropolitan and rural settings.

I believe everyone has strengths they can bring to resolving the problems they face. Our primary source of strength and direction is God. Your faith is an important component in lasting healing.

I believe in treating individuals with respect and dignity; I seek to understand your unique perspective on life and identify the best ways to achieve the change you desire.

I have formal training and experience in the practice of clinical psychology.

I also bring my background in Christian ministry and pastoral care to the work I do.

I use a variety of different approaches and I will remain sensitive to what does and does not work for you as an individual. I am comfortable with incorporating prayer, spiritual reading/devotions, and other spiritual practices within the context of your therapy.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

Dr. Romfo has been an excellent person to have in my corner. She is always kind, open, and patient. With her, I feel like I have been able to make real progress with a number of interrelated issues and concerns. When I started with Dr. Romford, it was very hard for me to feel hopeful, but now I am working hard towards better living and achieving dreams I had stopped daring to even think about before. I rarely need a lot more than a safe space with a patient listener to unravel my thoughts and get the bottom of my issues, and for this Barbara can't be beat!

Reviewed March 2023

Dr. Romfo is very skilled and uses her skill set and expertise to engage and collect useful information that will help in healing. It appears that she does want to help and she understands every one is different so a cookie style approach will not get the job done for everyone. She is good at listening and clarifying to make sure she understands what is being conveyed. She has good eye contact during video sessions and she uses a soft, empathic voice. Overall, I feel that she is a very talented and skilled therapist/ psychologist, and I’m happy to have her be my therapist.
