Hello! I am a licensed professional counselor licensed in Texas with over 15 years of experience working as a therapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, PTSD, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD and ADHD. I have also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. I have experience working with adults, adolescents, couples, and families in both individual and group sessions. The settings I have worked in include, inpatient hospitals, inpatient and outpatient substance use disorder treatment facilities, community mental health clinics, schools, wilderness challenge camps, school campuses, and correctional facilities.
After hours, I spend a great deal of time volunteering in the community. I have focused a great deal of hours helping veterans via groups and individual counseling, as well as, PTSD awareness campaigns. I have also spent a great deal of time working with local and state mental health advocacy programs such as NAMI, Behavioral Health Advisory Council and many others.
My counseling style is warm, interactive, and laid back. I listen. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, cognitive processing therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, and rational-emotive counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. My primary motivation is to help facilitate changes in behaviors based upon the client's needs and goals. I have worked with a range of clientele from strongly motivated to very resistant. The foundation is creating a therapeutic alliance and setting a pace toward client independence. Seeing the potential in each of my clients is great, but helping you see your own potential is beautiful.
It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Always there for me when I need her to be.
Valerie is amazing.
Valerie is wonderful. I have spend many many years in therapy and Valerie is the first therapist that has made me feel like I want to keep coming back. For the first time I feel like I am healing.
She is the best. One of my favorite therapists to work with that I’ve had. She does a great job of letting you decide where to focus each session.
Valerie is amazing. She somehow always knows exactly what to say. Therapy with her is always a judgement free zone. She is great at putting my mixed up thoughts and emotions into words and explaining what that actually means.
Valerie has been a huge influence on my changed mindset and new lifestyle changes that I have brought into my life. Every challenge has been a lesson and I have the perfect support to courageously move through life now and have stepped out of lots of negative cycles. Thank you very much for your guidance. It has been really helpful.
I am appreciative of my therapist and that she listens to me.
Valerie has helped me through a very difficult period of my life. She has helped me understand patterns that were somehow never known and allowed me to get to the root of my blockages. I am very grateful for my sessions with her!
Valerie is always such a great listener and helps me put things in perspective for me
Valerie has been great to me so far, combining experience and expertise with a calm and supportive demeanor. Therapy may not be fun, but a part of me looks forward to our calls every week.

I have had an extremely eye opening therapy experience with Valerie! I've been able to reflect on my habitual patterns and make necessary changes for an overall improved life and better wellbeing! I have made a lot of progress and seem to be feeling more empowered along the way as well!
Valerie has been extremely helpful for me. Something that I've noticed about her, that I've loved, is that she remembers things. It can be the smallest thing I've mentioned, and she remembers and will bring it up before I have to again. She is a wonderful listener and really helps me put things into perspective. When I began with her July of 2021, I was a wreck. Now, almost 8 months later, I feel like a brand new person. I have so much work left to do, but she has been so so wonderful. I would recommend her to anyone!
Valerie is an amazing listener and always puts things into perspective when I cant see the bigger picture. She often sends small stories or messages throughout the week as motivation or food for thought. I love the messages that get me thinking!
She is wonderful to talk to and helpful and supportive.
Valerie has been extremely helpful in helping me navigating around a new lifestyle that I have got to adapt to! The worksheets and suggestions in work are totally complementing my goals and targets that I have set for myself as the new year approaches! I feel so much more courageous and passionate towards the launch of two businesses! Thanks for all the support so far!
She makes me feel comfortable and validates my concerns. I feel she has really helped me deal with my fears.
Valerie is a great listener and gives valuable guidance.

Very open minded and great person to discuss your mental health with. Helpful tips and great personality.
Valerie has helped me gain a different perspective on things that I've been struggling with for eons. She has been very patient and kind throughout this journey. She supported me by providing actionable steps that I could use to overcome my coping mechanisms & insecurities.
Valerie is kind and patient who listens to you and provides just enough push to keep you going and improving continuously. You never feel that she doesn't care and you never feel rushed. She a great help and I always look forward to the sessions with her so we can both help myself be better!
Valerie is so easy to relate to. She took me on even though I am a particularly difficult case. She really listens.
Valerie is a very great listener and therapist. I feel like I can talk to her without fear of judgement and she always gives me sound advice for small changes I can make in my life to make the slow turn around to feeling better. She helps me understand that anxiety wont and cant be changed overnight and thats okay. She is such a caring and kind woman. She always tries to make each session better than the last and always is very quick about navigating around technical issues.
Valerie has been very helpful in what I feel like has been a short amount of time. She understands what I’m trying to say and usable to get to the heart of the matter. I appreciate her insight and she helps me clarify my thoughts and feelings.
Valerie is very attentive and responsive. She takes the time to explain things carefully and makes it easy to talk to her. I would highly recommend her.
My experience with Valerie overall has been phenomenal. She is deliberate, professional, open-minded, and genuine. I would highly recommend her expertise to anyone looking for counseling.
Still new, but so far highly recommend , and I have actually already recommended
