John is very intuitive and without me even knowing myself - he was able to isolate my issues within just 20 minutes. That was a huge relief, as my big hangup was in thinking how long it would take for me to explain the complexity of the problems... turns out..... :) Also, I was worried about speaking to a man - I thought I wanted a woman to challenge me and to press me. Again... turns out.... John was perfect for me.

My name is John Uriarte, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas. I have been practicing clinical social work since 1987 when I graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with my Master’s in Social Welfare. My approach to counseling is simple, I am here to listen and to help anyone who has the courage to ask for help. If you are letting the past dictate your future, then call me. Help is here.

I am a 24 year veteran of the U.S. Army and retired as Lieutenant Colonel . I treated soldiers and their family members who were dealing with the stressors of military life. When the war in Iraq started, I continued my counseling of soldiers in the war zone and when I returned, I was helping family members learning how to cope and deal with the changes in their loved ones. As a civilian, I continued my work with the VA. There I continued my work in helping veterans and their family members. If you are a vet, lets talk. If not, lets talk anyway. I am very good with phase of life problems and making transitions, like going from a marriage to divorce, a mid life crisis, etc.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
