I'm very pleased with better help and I'm very pleased with my therapist she's very conscientious and happy with a lot of decisions

After giving up on therapy that I’ve tried locally in my area, I gave up on the idea. After years, I tried BetterHelp as a last resort and Chris showed me that therapy in fact works when you find the right match with your therapist. As vulnerable as I’ve opened up during our sessions, Chris has always made me feel safe and not judged. She separates from others in that she is understanding of my cultural differences I was raised with that has caused issues with therapy in the past. Highly recommend!

More about Christine

  • 40 years' experience
  • Female
  • LPC

I'm glad to introduce myself to you and look forward to us possibly working together in collaboration to address whatever has brought you here.

I have been in private practice as a licensed psychotherapist (LPC) for the past 37 years, most of that time in Dallas. I moved to the Bay Area in California 8 years ago (best decision i ever made!) and added Life Coaching to my practice. My work is much different now than in Texas--instead of going to a brick and mortar office every day and seeing clients, I now work exclusively on the phone and on line and have become involved with several projects on different platforms, including as an online coach for a decision making start up, and as a counselor for the Life Reimagined program. i also received Disaster Management Training and became certified as a telephonic critical incident responder.

I received my Master's from Arizona State University and I have been licensed since 1983 after gaining early experience in psychiatric hospital social work and mental health center settings. In my practice, I have worked with individuals on a wide variety of issues, including anxiety and depression, relationships, separation and divorce, family conflicts, parenting, grief and loss, and chronic illness. i am a cancer survivor (30 years healthy and happy) and have talked with many people experiencing catastrophic illness and disability. In 2011, I became a Certified Life Coach, receiving training through Coach Training Alliance.

I am now fortunate enough to be able to blend my years of experience as a therapist and life coach with my own life experiences to work with Baby Boomers as they face the challenges and transitions in the new chapters in their lives.

Most of the issues that bring people into a counseling relationship can be addressed in three phases:

First is the "What"--what is your situation, problem, experience, etc.

Next is the "So What--what effect have these experiences had on your decisions, choices, lifestyle, behaviors

The third is the "Now What"--where to go from here. My experience in solution oriented, brief therapy has led to an emphasis on this "now what" and the changes that can make a big difference in your life.

i would be honored to be your partner in your growth journey!

Best,

Chris Ryan

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

One of the best decisions I made was taking the step to get a counselor. Chris has listened through my grief journey along with anger/depression and rut I had found myself in. She is a wonderful listener and gives you tools to use to achieve the goals you are wanting. I couldn’t recommend her enough!

I started with Chris because of work issues, and she has definitely helped me there, but she has also helped me with family concerns and also what I guess people would call life coaching as well. She is very easy to talk to and helps me see things from a different, unbiased perspective. I am incredibly grateful to have been matched with Chris, and she has helped me tremendously.

I had the pleasure of pairing with Chris and all I can say is that I’ve come light years from where I started. She listened with such empathy and gave me solid advise to guide me through my journey of healing. She was knowledgeable on everything I brought up. She was a huge blessing for me.

Christine(Chris) has helped me through a rough time with a grieving partner and has helped me better understand myself in learning to pinpoint certain emotions I’ve been feeling, understanding why it is I’m feeling these things all the while giving me actual tools to open up communication and express myself in a healthy way. A lot has improved in my life just by being able to speak to someone about this. Thanks for being that person, Chris
