Hello, my name is Leslie. Congratulations on taking this positive step toward better health! I am a very genuine, calm and kind professional with an innate desire to help others achieve happiness. I truly enjoy all people and believe there is good in everyone! I am guided by integrity, caring and compassion.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh. I have 40 years of work experience that includes counseling in hospital, school, and private rehabilitation settings. I have also worked in disability case management and account management.

My counseling style is eclectic. I tailor my approach to you. I like to use a combination of techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client Centered Therapy, ACT and DBT. I am a big proponent of relaxing our minds and can coach clients through the use of Progressive Relaxation, Imagery, and Deep Breathing. I also believe in many forms of physical exercise to calm our mind and heal our bodies.

I am here to listen and guide you. I am here to support and help you. I welcome you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Leslie is very caring and insightful. I haven't been working with her for long, but she has already provided very helpful tools and guidance. She is incredibly compassionate, and she has gone out of her way to message me with further resources and support. I highly recommend her.

Leslie is so patient and kind. We have our talk therapy but she also has helped me learn to journal to get these feelings out. She kindly reads my text -journals and offers solutions to think positively and look at things in a different way. She acknowledges my feelings and then helps me redirect thinking to a positive viewpoint by using different techniques. These are helpful tools to keep emotions on track. It has helped me keep peace with my family members and also to find peace and positive solutions for my own emotions. Thank you.

Leslie has helped me more than any therapist I've had on betterhelp. She listens deeply and really put a lot of effort into providing real solutions that I could work on daily. She helped me make a step by step plan with set goals, provided me with helpful resources, and just listened and gave genuine feedback both during sessions and through messages. She's great and I would recommend her to anyone.

Leslie has helped me in a variety of ways. Face to face, on line classes, questionnaires, different therapy techniques. She relates well and is very empathetic. We connected the first time we had our face to face meeting. She’s wonderful!

Reviewed March 2023

Leslie has been a godsend in helping me navigate some volatile family relationships and has greatly helped me with tools for emotional regulation. I look forward to our sessions and have found her compassionate listening so very helpful. She also provides some good guidance for conversations that need to be had, and most importantly has provided tools to help me with controlling emotional behavior. The worksheets are helpful, writing out my feelings is extremely helpful , and talking about the issues is most therapeutic. I need to keep my regularly scheduled sessions so I keep my head on straight! She has been a huge help over the last 10 months and I will continue working with her as we approach the summer to get through some more triggering times. Thank you for your wonderful platform and matching me with such a nice person.

I have never tried therapy prior to meeting with Leslie. Now that I have had sessions with Leslie, I have felt so much relief. While I am still working to achieve my goals, she provides feedback that is helpful in attaining those goals. Our sessions feel like casual conversations where I am comfortable sharing feelings and experiences that I suppressed. I have already noticed impactful changes that mitigate my anxious habits (i.e. ruminating thoughts, perfectionism, and OCD).

Reviewed February 2023

Leslie is the reason I am still in therapy--she makes it easy to continue and be myself. I have seen and have been told that my improvements in my mental health have been remarkable. I feel more confident and have worked on dealing with my anxieties. I credit Leslie for helping me so much on this journey.

Leslie Ellwood has already helped me immensely even after just 2 video sessions. She is the kind therapist I have been searching for, for years. In most therapy sessions I have felt like there were no goals, no structure, no support outside of appointments. With Leslie I feel heard. I feel accepted. I feel supported in my journey for personal growth and healing. I only wish Betterhelp could take my insurance but still it is reasonably priced for the value of the service.
