Dr. Buxbaum is a truly wonderful person. When you share your struggles with someone, you want them to fully hear you and understand what you’re going through. Dr. Buxbaum does that with ease and intention. I would recommend her to anyone that is looking for a therapist that has the expertise and knowledge to help and challenge you to be the best person you can, but also the gentle care that’s needed when you’re feeling vulnerable. I can’t say enough good things about her!!!

Dr. Buxbaum is a wonderful and compassionate counselor who helped me work through my anxiety. She helped me understand the roots of my worries and helped me teach myself how to cope with these worries. Although my journey has just begun, I am extremely grateful for the advice and tools from my time with Dr. Buxbaum as my counselor!

Stress, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, family issues and other difficulties are very common in our challenging times. Reaching out for help is the first step in finding solutions for your problems and achieving greater happiness. My job is to compassionately help you along the path toward feeling better by working with you to identify the sources of difficulty and the things that stand in the way of change, and developing a clear, approachable plan of action. My approach in therapy is based on the evidence of what works, and my understanding that the collaborative and supportive relationship you have with your therapist is a really important agent of change.

I have a Psy.D. in Psychology with a specialization in cognitive neuropsychology and neurorehabilitation, and have been a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania since 1989. My background means that I have substantial training and experience in providing empathic and supportive therapy, as well as in clearly identifying underlying causes of difficulty and generating solutions. When not providing therapy, I am a research professor in cognitive neuroscience at Einstein Healthcare Network and Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

In addition to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and family conflict, I also specialize in health-related issues and stress, including illness of oneself or family member. By combining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with many other different approaches, as needed, in a warm and supportive atmosphere, I can offer clients a number of strategies for success and growth.

Online counseling allows you to receive care from a mental health practitioner via phone, video chat, or instant messaging. It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
