More about Kara

  • 3 years' experience
  • Female
  • LCSW

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with 10+ years of experience in the human service field, and over 3 years of experience providing mental health and substance abuse counseling. I am comfortable working with any population regardless of age, gender, race, culture, religion or sexuality. I pride myself on meeting each patient where they are at in their process, and setting treatment goals based on desired outcomes. I have worked with clients with a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, Autism, OCD and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced substance abuse issues and other addictions as well as physical trauma or emotional abuse.

My counseling style is warm, interactive and inviting. I am non- judgmental and have been told I am easy to talk to. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and believe feeling empowered is essential in overcoming challenges. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, client centered counseling, psychodynamic, solution-focused, mindfulness and rational-emotive counseling. I utilize active listening skills to allow accurate reflection of both content and emotional expression. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs, and I am familiar with various different styles I can incorporate to best meet those needs.

It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you along the journey.

I look forward to working closely with you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
