Hello, my name is Michelle Bowes. I am an independently licensed couple and family therapist supervisor and professional clinical counselor supervisor practicing for 13 years. I have a Ph.D. in counseling education and supervision with an emphasis in couple’s and family therapy. I work with individuals, couples, and families and have practiced in several different environments (community mental health, inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, private practice, and academia). I also bring much life experience to my work. I have lived in several locations all around the country, including Northern and Southern California, Chicago, Washington D.C., Northern Virginia and I currently live in Ohio. I have been married for thirty-two years and am active in my community with greyhound rescue. Outside of work, I like to walk for exercise and practice Pilates.

My therapeutic style is collaborative, client centered, and eclectic, as I feel you are the author of your own life and have free will to make decisions; however, I will be there to guide, encourage, support and challenge you. I use several theories to guide me based upon the presenting problem and the needs of each individual client, but the most important element for growth and evolution in this context is the therapeutic relationship itself. I will work hard to learn your needs, to validate you as a human being, to empathize with you, and to provide a safe, trusting environment for your individual growth.

Seeking help through therapy shows your courage and I applaud you in taking this first step toward creating a healthier and happier life. I am here to join you on your journey.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
