More about Heather

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and have been in practice since 2018 after obtaining my master’s degree from Montreat College. Additionally, I am currently licensed with the National Board of Certified Counselors and am also a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist licensed with the North Carolina Addiction Specialist Professional Practice Board.

I have served diverse people on an ACTT team and with a men’s residential substance use program in Asheville, NC. I have worked as a crisis hospital advocate with Our Voice, Inc. and I have also offered courses for CEU’s on sex trafficking to various groups. I currently provide in-home therapy to families where the identified client is at risk of out of home placement. This involves working with a family from a systems based approach across school, home, legal, social services, and prosocial involvement to effect change using a variety of tools from modalities such as Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Art based therapy. In addition I offer private counseling services to individuals aged 13 and up with focuses on a variety of issues including personality disorders, substance use, depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief/loss, anger management as well as life stressors, such as divorce, moves, and new jobs. My primary approach to counseling is integrative derived heavily from cognitive behavioral therapy with a trauma informed approach.

My role is to assist you in reaching whatever goals you may have for yourself by providing nonjudgmental support and helping to facilitate your journey. I strive to empower you and assist you in expanding healthy awareness, rather than to give you advice. With that said, I also like to be action oriented with specific treatment goals in mind as we work through the reasons you have sought help. You are the expert on you and I am here to support and promote new discoveries. I want you to feel heard, validated, and supported on this journey you have undertaken and I take great joy in every step, small or great, my clients take. I enjoy being creative with a client to devise a plan specific to them to gain success and overcome obstacles in their lives.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and I look forward to working with you!

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
