What is hope? It is the fuel that powers change. Whether good or bad, change is constant. How we react to change stimulates interaction with others creating consequences that affects our world.

Hi, my name is Karen. I have a BS in Religion, a MA in Marriage and Family Therapy and I am licensed in the state of North Carolina as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor. My approach to helping people is Eclectic Therapy. I integrate multiple psychotherapies from a variety of disciplines to customize the best possible therapeutic process for each unique client. Whether using a single treatment or a combination of treatments, each counseling session, each treatment plan is adapted to the needs of each individual client, depending on their problem.

I have worked with clients in many venues: hospital, private practice, outpatient facility, crisis line. I have treated and co-treated numerous problems: schizophrenia, bi-polar, GAD, PTSD, ODD, OCD, family, marriage and couple relationship issues, pornography, grief, caregiver burnout, substance use, addictions, career changes, trauma, abuse, and more.

Asking for help is not always easy but it can be extremely rewarding. I hope when we connect that my training, experiences and style is the right fit for you.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Karen is truly amazing. I have been meeting with her every week for the past 4 months. I have had positive conversations/interactions with her that have improved my mental health and my life. She is challenging in the best ways. She has truly not only helped me work through lots of trauma, but she also helped me pick up the pieces afterwards and helped me find parts of myself after all of the mess that i once was. My family can also see positive changes in myself. Karen gave me copious amounts of worksheets that were and still are very useful. Karen will always be the Therapist i use if she is available. The world needs more of her!

Karen made me feel at ease the minute we started talking. She was very easy to share my story with and be vulnerable. Right from the start she has challenged me with tough questions that make me really process and think. At the same time she provides Christian insight and grace with encouragement and truth all weaved together. I love how she takes the time to send worksheets and resources that all add to my journey outside of our weekly sessions. Karen is truly an answer to prayer

I would recommend her to everyone new or returning to therapy. 10/10 Stars

I have had counselling in the past so I appreciate and value Karen's support even more. She is the consummate listener, allowing me to pour out my concerns, then guides me gently to reflect and consider how I can make change in my life and make me a better version of the person I am now, at peace with myself and within myself.

Reviewed March 2021

I've been counseling with Karen for 3 weeks now. I don't specifically need advice as I need a non-judgmental ear to listen and she provides just that. She asks an appropriate amount of questions to get to know me as a person and is engaging; offering tips and suggestions when applicable. I feel like I can tell her what is in my heart and on my mind without being looked down on. These are things that I feel I can tell no one else. She lets me talk and she lets me cry. She is gentle and her tone is kind and soothing. There are merits and benefits to having a counselor to turn to. Sometimes it's just easier talking to a stranger than to someone who knows you. To be honest, many of our friends/family . . . they cup runneth over as well without me burdening them with my issues. I'm glad I signed up for help and so far I'm happy I choose Karen.

Reviewed March 2021
