More about Nicole

Hello! My name is Nicole and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with four years of experience. I focus on collaborating with clients and meeting them where they are at in their journey. Using a strength-based trauma informed approach to therapy I work with clients to find and master skills that can help make life a little better.

I earned my Masters in Social Work from New York University and a law degree from Rutgers University. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I have worked with a wide variety of clients from all different ages, backgrounds and orientations, in different settings including, but not limited to schools and outpatient clinics. My experience includes working with adults with severe mental illness, children and families with trauma and those experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety, Depression and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). My expertise includes working with teenagers with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Motivational Interviewing.

Before I became a therapist, I was a lawyer working in the nonprofit world representing children in abuse and neglect cases, advocating for adults facing evictions and helping individuals obtain restraining orders from abusers or divorces. I have always been dedicated to helping people find their way during difficult times.

I approach counseling from a holistic point of view to help clients get the services and support they need. My style is warm, honest, and non-judgmental. I welcome the opportunity to work together.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
