I have been working with Sarah for a year now and find our sessions invaluable. I would highly recommend Sarah for her kindness, understanding, communication, and her patience but most importantly her support. When I started this journey I was at the bottom of my personal staircase. Through our sessions, her guidance and support, I just keep climbing!

More about Sarah

  • LCSW

Hello, my name is Sarah, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of New Jersey. As a therapist I aim to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space in which individuals can seek help in understanding issues they are facing in order to guide them towards healthy, more balanced functioning. Grounded in a respect for each person’s unique life perspective and choices, I listen closely with a goal of working collaboratively to address individual therapeutic needs. I believe that change and growth take place in the context of the authentic relationship between client and therapist, which is based upon acceptance, compassion, and care. Additionally, I believe that distress is a part of life, and rather than having the unrealistic goal of eliminating distress, I strive to help individuals tolerate, accept, and find meaning in struggle.

I treat adults coping with depression, anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship issues, and grief using a variety of treatment approaches based on the client’s needs, to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) among others. I draw on Eastern philosophy in my practice and like to incorporate an element of psychoeducation by sharing articles, books, or other resources when applicable. I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. As a clinician I have provided both outpatient and inpatient treatment, worked in psychiatric emergency services, and got my start in community mental health working with seriously mentally ill adults.

Sarah is the best! I am so grateful for the support and help she's provided in being more compassionate towards myself and finding ways to navigate stressful or unhappy times. She is a great listener, highly empathetic, and talking to her always helps me see things more clearly. After a few months of therapy with her I have healthier sleep habits and more self confidence, and actually came out to my parents which I never thought I could do. I highly recommend working with Sarah.

In the past, I have had very negative experiences with therapy/counseling and was iffy on starting counseling again when I began my journey of self improvement. Sarah immediately made these worries disappear upon our first session. Sarah really does listen and care for her clients. Sarah listens to what I bring up in our sessions in a way that is free of judgement and makes me feel safe and comfortable. One of my favorite parts about working with Sarah is that if she is not familiar with what you are going through, she will do her own research outside of your sessions in order to better grasp your life experience. Sarah really does care very deeply about her clients and will always go out of her way to do her absolute best to provide you with the help you need in and out of your sessions.
