More about Marissa

It is my belief that what the human spirt yearns for most is to be heard in a genuine, non-judgmental, and compassionate way. My goal is to provide a therapeutic environment where my clients feel safe enough to express themselves in their most authentic light. It has been my experience, that personal transparency has been most effective in developing a therapeutic relationship in helping others meet their needs while in treatment. I understand the courage it takes to be vulnerable and seek help so it is paramount for my clients to feel comfortable, safe, and supported

I am a License Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of New Jersey and I graduated from Monmouth University with my Master's in Counseling. I am passionate about empowering others to identify and use their personal strengths and innate healing qualities through the use of holistic and evidence based treatment modalities. Through a client centered and mindfulness based approach, I incorporate such techniques including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma Informed treatment. I take a very eclectic approach to therapy and I do not believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach, therefore, we will work together to see what is helpful for you. I am a firm believer in meeting a person where they are at. I have a particular focus working with those struggling with trauma/PTSD, eating disorders, and psychosis and/or psychotic disorders.

I have experience working with adolescents, young adults and adults struggling with and recovering from trauma/PTSD, eating disorders, self-harm behaviors, co-occurring disorders, depression and anxiety disorders, interpersonal conflicts, impulsive behaviors, and chronic mood instability. I have a particular focus working with those struggling with trauma/PTSD, psychosis and/or psychotic disorders, and eating disorders. At this time, I prefer to work with young adults and adults.

Seeking treatment can be incredibly vulnerable and courageous. Let me know how I can help to support you!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
