Welcome! I’m Gale Green, M.A., L.P.C. and I appreciate the willingness and trust you have taken to address an issue you would like to examine. With that in mind, allow me to share who I am and what I can offer to you.
I began this part of my life journey after working in many industries and at many jobs. After my children were grown and gone, I decided to pursue my lifelong career dream of counseling people. After returning to school and obtaining my Master's Degree, I took early retirement to begin my new career.
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Missouri for eighteen years. During these years I worked with many individuals and families - active duty military families, refugees and immigrants that fled war and torture; incarcerated individuals and their families, as well as ordinary couples and families who seek to improve their lives. Please know that along with my professional training and licensing, I bring the addition of my many decades of life experiences that, I believe, have proven invaluable to my empathy and understanding of where you may be in your life. I strive, first and foremost, to LISTEN. If I don’t do that, I will not know what you need or what we will need to do together to address your reasons for counseling.
The therapeutic approaches that I have found most effective are Solution Focused Therapy, Eclectic Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. You may not know what any of these therapies mean. THAT’S OKAY! These therapies are merely a way to help me determine the best way to help you feel comfortable, to help you identify your true problem and provide a framework to help me help you find ways for you to manage or eliminate the concern that brought you to counseling.
My goal is to always be empathetic and supportive of your thoughts, ideas, and needs. Honesty is an invaluable part of therapy and I will always aim to help you feel safe enough to be honest with yourself, so that you can be honest with me, as we collaborate to meet your therapy goals. Judgment is not a part of how I function. Ultimately, my overarching desire is to LISTEN, be SUPPORTIVE, and HELP YOU IDENTIFY your true reason for counseling NOW, and then work with you to achieve your counseling goals with open and honest communication.

Being new to therapy and well into my adulthood I had a lot of preconceived thoughts on therapy in general and it gave me anxiety. That’s the reason I hadn’t started therapy until now. I am thankful of the way that BetterHelp facilitates therapy and makes it accessible financially and via phone ,chat and text to your therapist! I am thankful of the mini tools available on the website, and I am very appreciative of my therapist Gail Green. She really put my mind at ease almost immediately, she listens very well and honing in on what might be an underlying issue that I hadn’t even thought of. Immediately after my first therapy session, I was left being very impressed with her expertise, professionalism and kindness. I was then left with looking very deeply into my past and being very aware of myself in ways that I hadn’t thought to do previously I’m already thinking that my therapy is helping even after the first session. Gail gave me specific homework assignments and explained the purpose of them and what she’s looking for in those assignments . Even though it’s really early on, I really have a good feeling about Gail Green as my therapist and I think that she will be a good fit for me and myself being a good fit for her hopefully.

Immediate feeling of calmness and that she's going to be with you every step of the way.
I've had several therapists before and after 1 session the resources she pinpointed for me were my style of learning, even without knowing me well. Maybe it was luck, but I took it as a good sign. Others sent me to podcasts which I tried but wasn't a fan. She linked me to a source with studies and research data and I read these in my spare time, but random ones from ADHD rabbit-hole curiosity questions. Now I can target that spare time to more studies that help me learn about myself. Within a few articles I saw science data backing questions I have asked my in office doctors that have said "It's possible, yeah". Like hormone levels and ADHD. I had my doctor check mine and they admitted they weren't sure of a correlation to my symptoms. So I'm grateful she found a resource I never searched out on my own. Also when I read Gale's background about her career, I got a sense that she does the work because she has a gift for compassion. That may not be what everyone needs for therapy. Some people need sterile clinical approach, which I can appreciate because like I said I love reading research studies. But as someone who is an " I'm fine" person for far too long, I think it is going to take a compassionate therapist to allow me to allow myself to be honest about what I need help with.
I have never had therapy before and finally decided it would be nice to talk to someone to try to understand and find ways to start feeling better about things going on. Gale came to my rescue. Gale isnt a blank sheet that bounces back your own words. Gale has years of wisdom that she brings to the chair and she shares relevant details from her own life and gives you space to explore yours. She also brings a vibrant personality - while she's qualified and knowledgeable, she's also a bit of a bright gem amongst some overly serious practitioners. Gail gets to the point but never pushes me beyond my limits, and she respects the experience I have of my situation, which I haven't felt in the past. Overall, I'd say she's struck a fine balance. I started working with Gale 2 months ago when the loss of my beloved cat became too much to bear.
