More about Emily

Hi, I'm glad you're here! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Mississippi with 6.5 years of experience providing direct mental health and behavioral counseling. I have worked with individuals ages six through adult with a variety of behavioral/mental health presenting issues such as: anxiety, depression, concentration/ADHD, anger, phase-of-life problems, relationship and family issues, sexuality concerns, and many more. My goal is to always provide a safe, respect-filled environment to build therapeutic relationships.

My experience is varied, as I have provided individual, group and family therapy throughout my career as a therapist. I feel strongly that our belief systems impact how a person thinks about, experiences, and reacts to activating events within their life. In turn, how those activating events were experienced impacts the individual's responses to their world moving forward. I believe that all individuals are heavily influenced by our closest relationships, communities, environment, systems (family, work, school, church, etc) and personal experiences. I strive to treat the therapeutic relationship, and you, with compassion, respect, and warmth.

My therapy style and approach is influenced by Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy primarily as well as Person-Centered Therapy. It is extremely important to me to be able to collaborate with you to tailor my treatment and approach to what works best for you. No one knows you better than you do, so setting and realizing your goals is a team-effort. Making the step to begin therapy can cause a jumble of emotions that may range from fear and anxiety to excitement and hopefulness. Whatever feelings you may be experiencing, please know that they are normal. I know taking this step takes courage, and I am here to empower and support you on your journey.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I owe so much to Emily. We started working together years ago, and I've grown so much. I don't think that this growing would have happened as safely as it did without your help, Emily. I have learned how to let go of thoughts, how observing a feeling is important in moving on from it... Through every change, every factor that affected my life, I had her. I find that explaining my issues usually helps me find the solution alone, and Emily has always embraced this technique with me. Such a kind, non-judgemental, soft person who I care so deeply about. Thank you so much Emily, and I hope that if I'm ever in need of therapy again, you'll take me. ❤️

I've been working with Emily on and off for the past two years, and if there's only ONE thing I could take away from the experience, it's that she really does put in the effort to really understand how we're feeling and what information we're giving her. I couldn't recommend her more, because she truly does care.

I found Emily to be exactly the person I needed when my mental health had started to worsen. She is an incredibly friendly and professional therapist that really listens to everything you have to say, and remembers it. She helped me talk about childhood trauma and to approach it from a different angle than what I had before, which completely changed my life for the better. Emily, I can't thank you enough for being so supportive, as well as helpful and kind when listening to me. You've made an impact in my life and I will forever be grateful for you. Thank you for being an amazing person and therapist, I'm sure you will help so many people after me. I will stay in touch!

Emily is easy to work with. She never made me feel uncomfortable or pressured. Her listening skills are what make her such a great asset to this platform. I never felt judged, and always felt heard. Thank you Emily for your support in my journey. I hope to meet another therapist like you.

After having been working with Emily for over a month now, I can confidently say that she's been incredibly helpful in getting me to feel comfortable enough to open up. I was ready to give up on therapy, after assuming I wouldn't be able to connect with a therapist enough to work through my negative thought patterns. Enter: Emily! Looking forward to continuing to work together, and to continue to learn and grow.

In a time of transition, big decisions and isolation, Emily’s been the calm, patient ear I’ve needed. Plenty of exercises for me to try, but the real value is being truly heard. Thank you, Emily!
