Hi My name is Mary K. Hill. I am a licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Minnesota. I have practiced in this field for over 30 years. I retired a few years ago and quickly learned I missed my work. So, I’m back to use my excellent skills and years of experience to help you move through your concerns that may be holding you back from living your best life. The lens I see life through is nonjudgmental and accepting. All these years of experience helped me learn how to work best with ALL people. I have been blessed in this area of my work which helped me grow as a professional and clearly see where my clients at.
My work involves meeting the client where they are at to address their needs. My clients drive the modalities of therapy I use. Often, to address these needs I met my clients in the setting that worked best for them, home, school or clinical agency. Using virtual therapy is new for me but I have seen how well it can work.
Some of my specialty areas include:
• Individuals wanting to improve their life, removing roadblocks so that can happen
• Parent child relationships
• Anxiety and depression
• Trauma and abuse
• GLBT population
• Couples Therapy
• Grief and Loss
• Chemical Dependency
I’m so grateful you reached out for help. If you feel we are a good fit for each other I look forward to working with you. If not, I am sure you can find one of our other therapists that will be a perfect fit. Best regards in improving your life.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

She is a good listener and understands my concerns. Good at keeping me on track
She's great to talk to and is really understanding, she doesn't judge you and makes you feel good about yourself.
Mary provides me with so much support that has really helped me along this journey of self-discovery and self-improvement!
Mary is engaged and helpful. She keeps in touch and is very personable. I like working with her.
Mary has been a wonderful help to me. She is always so supportive and "gets" me.
Mary is a great therapist. She listens and cares with her empathetic heart. I’m grateful she was my therapist. Thank you for all that you do for everyone.
Mary listens to me, helps me to understand and keeps me focused on what I want to change. When I start to wallow in my emotions, she kindly redirects the energy to what to do about it. She has stuck with me for almost a year, cheering the changes I have been able to make and continuing to nudge me to what still needs to be done. This is the best therapy experience I have had.
Mary is teaching me that things can get better. The past is the past and cannot be changed. The past may have consequences, but all there is to do is to deal with it and keep going. And I can’t change anyone but myself. Mary‘s perspective is practical and realistic and oriented to continuing to function in real life.
Thanks to Mary I have found more about myself and have gained the necessary tools to live a more fulfilling life. Mary is a kind person and willing to meet you at your level.
I like Mary and her approach. She has life experiences which gives the client a sense of easiness knowing she knows where we are coming from.
Mary is great, its kind of hard to put everything into words. She listens, she's understandable, helpful, empathetic, sincere. It doesnt feel like talking to a doctor or robot, it feels more like talking to a best friend. You never regret saying anything, you rather want to say and hear more, and what she has to say are also things that not only help you discover more, but also help you manage your issue, your life in the right direction. I would compare to having a great co-pilotIts more of a conversation than a doctor's appointment, which is how it should feel to me talking to someone about your life.
Mary is by far that most wonderful counselor I have worked with since I have started therapy over 5 years ago. She is understanding, listens to my concerns, organizes and talks main concerns/issues through with me, and I just appreciate her. She has a great "Grandma energy" about her and I find it super comforting and welcoming. Thank you Mary for all your help!
I've been really please with my interactions with Mary so far. She's provided me a lot of avenue to connect and tools to educate and help me to better understand myself. She's positive, but no B.S. and someone that makes you feel supported. I'm looking forward to continuing working with her.
Mary is a good match for me, we're close in age and have similar life experience. She keeps me focused on tasks for reaching my counseling objective.
Mary is absolutely amazing. She is responsive, thoughtful, and extremely helpful. I’m so grateful to have her as my counselor.
Great listener.
Kind, helpful, and a great listener. Provided me with tools to help manage my stress and checked in to see how I was doing!
Mary is such an awesome person! She makes me so comfortable and open to talk to her about anything. She meets me where I’m at, and works with me to find a place to be comfortable at. She listens and understands, and regularly checks on me. Can’t wait to have her be my therapist once I come back! She has truly helped me learn what it means to really take time for myself and my needs!
Very attentive, concerned, and insightful.
