I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work at University of Maryland Baltimore School of Social Work, am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker and have been a counselor for 27 years. In addition to private practice and counseling at outpatient clinics, I worked at three different Universities as a counselor and taught in the department of social work at Salisbury University. I am a generalist practitioner. I have completed training in Trauma. Also I am certified as a Koru Mindfulness trainer. A focus on client strengths and a nonhierarchical view of the treatment relationship, as well as Buddhist philosophy influence my work. I live with my wife in Springfield, Illinois and spend time at the family farm.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Kate is an incredible counsellor, professional and kind. She made me feel validated and spent time getting to know me and how best to help me. Im very happy with her counselling style and the way she helped me work through my issues. Kate is amazing at understanding and giving advice about life in the LGBTQ+ community and how to survive it. Her experience makes her very knowledgeable and its hard to imagine a challenge she couldn't coach me through. I would recommend her to everyone.
Kathy is very understanding and offers a kind and gentle approach while still getting to the heart of the matter of issues and offering tips and techniques for self improvement.
Kathy has been an immense help through an incredibly trying time in my life. I have always felt comfortable and at ease in our sessions. I highly recommend Kathy to anyone looking for understanding and kind guidance.
I have been receiving concilling from Kathy for almost 2 months now. Kathy is by far the best councillor/therapist I have had the pleasure of working with. From the outset she remembered small details which she would encourage me to talk about. She has offered me multiple avenues of research which have allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of myself. I have always felt at ease around her as she will happily share anicdotes from her own experience as well. All contributing to me having seen a positive shift in my well-being. I hope to continue to work with her even when I don’t feel the need for therapy as she is a very grounded voice of reason. Couldn’t recommend any more highly
I had 7 sessions with Kathy. She was attentive, resourceful, and helpful. She introduced me to meditation, which has been doing wonders for my overactive mind. I have gotten the answers I needed from her and I strongly recommend her as a therapist.
We've been focusing on dealing with emotions and anger management. Most of her recs is stuff I've been doing on and off, so mostly inconsistently. Good to have someone to remind me of the benefits of mindfulness
