Mary Jo is superb. She has been such a blessing and a huge help to me through these past months of sessions—through my familial, relational, social and spiritual situations/problems/qualms. With her, I am thoroughly listened to and understood; she's able to really well-articulate and pinpoint things I'm working on or going through that I'm struggling to articulate. She's also super supportive and an incredible joy to talk with! I really enjoy our sessions and 200% recommend her to friends and anyone considering a counselor!

Good job! You are already taking your first step to helping yourself. I am warm and inviting with various things to look at (if you choose video sessions), items to fidget with (you’ll find out when we work together), and of course me to talk to.

I use various techniques like REBT, CBT and ACT (and others) which are forms of therapy, however most of my clients state “we are just talking, or wow you are really good at this.” I let them know it’s not me: I am simply “reframing” what you; my future has stated to me back to you in a non-judging way. You hear it for yourself and I give you the credit for trusting me enough to share and hear your own information.

I also try to help my clients reframe to see the positives in their life, no matter how small. I convey to all of my clients that this is a ‘judge free’ space and they will never be judged by me. I want them to feel comfortable and realize that the work they are doing comes from them, not from me, and I will be in that judge-free space with them so they will not be alone. I provide a safe space to be mad, sad, happy, or any way you choose to feel.

I am no stranger to working with mental health clients and have worked with people that have depression, personality disorders, trauma, grief and anxiety disorders to name a few. I most recently spent time providing therapy providing outpatient service to those with dual-diagnosis at a substance and alcohol abuse facility and prior to that with schools for kids aged five to college. I also have experience working with inmates in a prison and jail. I have worked with those who want to discuss sexual identity and questioning their gender. I enjoy all aspects of working with clients but love to see them take time to realize the important things in life -

I will be available in the virtual office world on Mondays 3 pm to 6 pm, Tuesdays 3 pm to 6pm, Wednesday from 7 am to 3 pm, Thursdays 7 am to 3 pm. Although these hours are subject to change I invite you to ask for details or special accommodations. I want to let you know that I do check for messages throughout the day each day. Please be respectful and understand that everyone, like you is very important and deserves my undivided attention. I will respond to your message at my earliest convenience. Weekends may take a little longer as they are not my typical working hours.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

I’m not sure words could describe how thankful I am for Mary. She was phenomenal from day one. Actually, after the first 5 minutes of our video call, I felt understood, also knew that Mary cared and that we could work together. Thankful I am able to be vulnerable to someone who cares and is interested in my growth and change.

Mary has been a great help in the 12+ months she’s been my therapist. She is professional, flexible, results driven, personable and understanding. She helped me to work through some significant life changes and make better decisions in different areas of my life. Her help and approach has enabled me to feel more empowered with tools and more confident to handle challenging emotions and experiences.

Great therapist!

Reviewed January 2023

Mary is a kind and compassionate therapist. She did not make me feel like she was judging me or ultra critical. She had some very constructive suggestions in which I have tried strongly to implement in my daily life. I do wish she was not potentially going in to another line of work, but I’m continuing to work with her until the time she would make the change as I think she has a great grasp on my issues, background, and environment around me.

I have had multiple counseled experiences in the past and very few actually good. Mary has been such a wonderful therapist. Every session I leave feeling like she truly helped me to dig deeper and see things that I could never see in myself. That is a big thing for me because I feel like I am pretty self aware and don’t feel like therapist in the past we’re helping me dig much deeper than I already did on my own. Mary has given me great analogies to better understand my circumstances and myself. She is great at picking up the smallest things from stuff I have repeated over and over again and have never caught. I’ve only had 3 sessions thus far and therapy with Mary has already made such a huge impact on my life

It's great that MJ can appreciate and accept the effects of living with a chronic condition. She is holistic in her care, including talking to my son who is the centre of my world, tho often adds to my stressers and triggers. So when communication becomes strained she can help bridge the gap. MJ has already helped me more than she realises, tho still a long road to travel I believe. Thank you

MJ has made me feel safe and secure enough to talk about anything with her. I've only had 3 sessions so far and she has been able to show me different viewpoints to consider and plenty of food for thought. She has a lovely relaxed and friendly manner. She's very patient when I start to ramble on a bit lol.
