More about Brenden

  • 7 years' experience
  • Male
  • LMFT

I am a marriage and family therapist with a PhD in Developmental Psychology. I have 7 years of experience working as a therapist, and 25 years of experience working as a coach. I have accumulated a wide range of experience working with a diverse clientele. I have worked in school based mental health, addiction treatment, and residential treatment for children and teens. I have also worked in an outpatient setting treating severe and persistent mental illness. I have worked with children and teens that have had severe trauma through Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have also worked extensively with struggling families. Some of the many issues I have worked with people on are depression, anxiety, self-harm, addiction, trauma, parenting problems, relationship issues, ADHD, sexual abuse, pornography addiction, and anger management.

My therapeutic style is to first listen to your story. You are the expert on your life, and I am here to listen to that experience. I try to treat everyone with respect, dignity, compassion, and understanding. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, solution focused, Bowenian, motivational interviewing, and rational-emotive behavioral therapy methods. I believe in a client-centered collaborative approach in which I work to understand needs and goals that are specific to you. Your specific goals will guide our discussion and formulate your treatment plan.

We all have times in our life when we could use some perspective and help with reaching our goals. We will work together to create a treatment plan and interventions that are unique to your situation. I welcome the opportunity to assist you in reaching your goals.

I look forward to getting to know you and working together!

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

Brenden is a great therapist to work with and has really helped me deal with some acute issues but also dig deeper into longer lasting ones. A very good listener who picks up on key things one isn't aware of and is consistently able to provide insight and advice in a very humane way that isn't cold or judgmental. I have greatly benefitted from therapy and the tools that I am learning to develop.

Reviewed June 2022

Even when I'm wrapped up in the happenings of day to day life and I'm not able to get online to casually message, he doesn't shame me or pressure me to just do video calls or phone calls, which I appreciate immensely. My speech and thoughts are not as organized as when I write, so chatting via messenger is a great way for me to communicate efficiently.

Brenden's advice during a traumatic family crisis has been invaluable. He has given me tools in my toolbelt - ways to cope, focus on the truth, and care for myself - and it has gotten me through. He also sent extensive intake forms before we met, so that from our very first meeting, he knew a lot about me and my situation. I would recommend him to anyone needing help.
